This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50-55 MPH the steering wheel began aggressively shaking causing them to crash into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. Both the vehicles received damage to the driver-side view mirror. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. There were no warning lights illuminated. A police report was filed. There were no injuries and no medical attention was needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it had not been diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000.
The airbag located in the steering wheel has cracked the steering cover and is exposed. If this were to deploy prematurely or while driving it would pose serious safety risks. I have contacted Ford corporate in regard to this and their only suggestion was to take the vehicle to our dealer to have this replaced, at my own cost, which is missing the point of this needing to be reported and/or recalled as it appears to be a common problem with Ford trucks in online communities. It is a safety hazard and not a warrantied repair. As previously stated I have not taken to the dealership as I want it to be reported/recalled. There was no warning of this issue and it occured Saturday 6/10/23
Airbag Failed to Deploy. This is a fleet vehicle. On 02/12/2022 this vehicle was traveling 60 mph when an oncoming truck turned across in front of the driver. The vehicles collided on this vehicles front driver side and drivers side. The other vehicles airbags did deploy.
Air bag light on the tachometer comes on while braking, usually with exterior air temp above 80 degrees. A/C compressor shuts down, turn signals go crazy when engaged, electric windows stop functioning and the brake pedal seems soft.. release the brake pedal; the air bag light goes out and everything functions as normal until the brake pedal is applied again. The fcim was replaced and reprogrammed but the issue remains. Comments please vehicle has 28000 miles +/-
A van lost control in heavy rain merging onto a very busy interstate and crossed 2 lanes of traffic before entering my 3rd lane. It was perpendicular to my vehicle as I struck it in the center of the driver's side at approximately 65 mph. My driver's steering wheel airbag did not deploy at all. There was extensive damage to both vehicles. I then spun around and slid sideways striking a guardrail in my driver's door which caused me to roll on the guardrail for approx 112 ft. Before coming to rest on my wheels. The side curtain airbags deployed but the steering wheel never did. The truck sustained extensive damage being a total loss.
