Been having odd electrical issues, like the hood popped open on freeway, and trouble starting the car. Different screens coming up, check engine light, and door will not lock. Was told by diagnostics it was the BCM (or BCI, whatever) so it was replaced and programmed and still the doors will not lock. Working through taking doors apart now to see if wire pinched etc. (Alarm sets and horn/lights go off to say it was locked but won't lock.)

This is a known problem at Ford dealerships and should be a recall item. It is dangerous in general to lose electrical in the vehicle, but when you are towing it is extremely dangerous. Sometimes it will reset and other times it just remains in a "blacked-out" state. The wire that gets corroded and breaks on the harness has been documented by many, and the Ford dealership knew of it. All trucks with this issue should be recalled so that a permanent fix can be applied before a serious accident occurs because of it.

F-250 LX 6.7L

Bought the truck used and had it two months and the left turn signal started flashing fast. Front turn light was out. I checked light and replaced the bulb, but both bulbs were good. Light still didn't work with new bulb. Checked all the lights and found the tail lights didn't work. The left bottom turn and running light didn't work. No back up lights and license plate lights out. And the left lower head light was not working. Most of the marker lights don't work. When I was checking lights and replacing them, a few times the working light would go out and the light that was out would turn on. The only lights I wasn't able to replace was the mirror marker lights.

Each of the marker light has a light out. I have followed the wiring and looked for any shorts or defects. Spent over 30 hours on this problem to no avail. I do not trust my dealership, so called mechanics (very sad). I watched many utube videos about the problem. A guy in another state knows hows to fix these problem with the diagnostic, schematic program he follows from the dealership. I'm looking for someone with his skills. It's not easy.

Can anyone give me directions to a mechanic that has experience in this repair? I'm guessing the problem could be many from bad BCM, short in wiring, light out. So I can drive the truck at night, I connected towing lights to the bumper from the plug. This gives me rear running lights. My license plate light is still out, hoping the cops will overlook the lic. plate light failure. I'm in Southern California. At this point I will drive anywhere to fix this problem. Thanks for reading.

major electrical issues

Here's one for you. I go out to start my show truck and all sorts of alarms start going off. Charging systems, lane stuff, cruise control, etc. Must've clicked through 10 different screens. Tried starting it and had to crank for, what felt like, 20 seconds. Moved it down the street and all those alarms started going off and also noticed the turbo gauge was pegged at MAX boost even though the truck clearly had NO Actual Boost (turbos weren't working). To be safe we had it flat bedded to the local Ford dealership. THREE WEEKS LATER.. Got my truck back and they're STILL doing paperwork so far, both batteries, alternators, harness, fuel sensors, and many other sensors and ECU (computer). Noticed on the first day back that the dash main screen module inside tachometer there's a screen that shows current gear selection; that's also not working at all. That was 3 days ago and within 50 miles, IT'S DOING IT AGAIN. This time it's about 5 screens. Back to dealership tomorrow. Quite disappointed Ford.
