Additionally, the contact stated that the tailgate would fail to open when pressing the button on the key fob or when attempting to manually open the tailgate. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V864000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) which was linked to the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be serviced or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact stated that during cold weather conditions, the locking mechanisms on all four doors malfunctioned and the doors would not latch and remain securely closed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the locking mechanisms were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under a Manufacturers Customer Satisfaction program due to the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Additionally, the contact stated that in a -25 Fahrenheit wind chill, the door failed to unlock, and he was left outside of the vehicle. The contact broke into the vehicle. The contact stated he had used the seat belt to secure the door but was unable to open the door. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the same dealer had previously replaced the door lock actuators two years prior to the failure; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that after opening the front driver-??s door, the locking mechanism malfunctioned, and the door would not remain closed. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on multiple occasions and on both the front driver-??s and front passenger-??s side doors. The failure would occur when the weather temperature was below 20 degrees and raining, causing ice to form inside the locking mechanism. After the vehicle warmed up, the locking mechanism operated as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the locking mechanism was replaced under the Manufacturer Campaign Number: 20M04; however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 50,000.
The door locks froze and the doors would not open. This left me locked out of the vehicle. Going down the road, the doors flew open. The door locks had frozen open and not closed.
