August tenth I bought a F250 super duty pickup. I assumed I had bought a 3/4 ton truck. But when I took it on a road trip I enjoyed the ride to much. you see I traded in a 2012 Chevy 2500HD and it use to kick the hell out of me when I roaded it. This truck rides like an 1500. So I looked up my VIN number in the ford parts data base to see if I got what I paid for and low and behold the parts list shows a robust five spring, per side, assembly as being installed. Wouldn't you know my rear leaf assembly only has three on each side. This now begs the question, Can this truck do the work of a 3/4 ton.
The spec of a F250 are as published;
Door sticker: GVW 10,000 LBS pay load 3600 LBS
The question is does this mean the specified springs in the parts manual or the undocumented springs
that are on my truck that I know are to soft from my on experience. The dealership publication that rate a F250 at less than 10,000 GVW LBS but at 19,000 GCVW The problem with dealership publications are that they gave me a couple of papers with conflicting info on the trucks performance. Ford was no better their websites and documentation are wholly conflicting. My salesman was much less than understanding when I told him he had sold me an F150 as a F250. To date no one has to date provided any proof that my truck is actually what they claim or sold to me
