When accelerating on The Garden State Parkway, and hitting a small bump in the road (a reflector, I believe) I had my whole front end wobble so bad that I pulled over to the shoulder to stabilize the truck. It felt like the wheel was going to fall off and It really shook me up. I purchased this used truck in March 2019 to tow my trailer. I am now scared to death to do anything with it until I have it looked at.
Everything I have read leads me to believe Ford has been aware of these problems for years. I am the second owner and the truck is in excellent condition with low miles. It’s like new. What is the fix, aside from getting rid of it?
So, this problem started this year, and so far, has happened 4 times. The first time it happened, I thought I was going to lose control of the truck completely. I am very concerned that this will cause an accident with injury or loss of life.
I purchased this F250 King Ranch New in 2012. The first time I experienced this "DEATH WOBBLE" was at around 18,000 miles. It has since happened 5 other times (not extremely severe although very disturbing), not including yesterday when it was so severe that I lost control and went off the road hitting a guard rail. While on the highway at 65mph on a left hand curve I hit a bump and the truck went crazy!!! I lost control and crossed to the right over 3 lanes on the highway before going off the road. Thank God there was no other traffic around me (and I wasn't injured) because there was nothing I could do to stop it. Does anyone know of a fix for this since Ford will not even acknowledge the problem.
Bought truck in 2013 with 82,000 miles; about 3 months ago, it started a wobble lasting approximately 1-2 seconds when you hit a big bump/pothole. Yesterday, while driving to work, the death wobble lasted for about 20 - 30 seconds, until I could get the truck slowed down to under 25 MPH; I then kept the truck under 60 MPH the rest of the way to work, and back home with no problem.
