shutter - shake - jolt
Update from Feb 21, 2013: I purchased a brand new 2011 Ford Super Duty F250 4x4 off road Turbo Diesel 6.7L Power Stroke B20 on August 28, 2011 with 54 miles on it for $65k. Totally love the truck it’s absolutely fabulous! Within two short months and 754 miles it began having a shake when driving on an incline and attempting to maintain a speed of approximately 48 miles an hour. (I use to work on old Mustangs and it reminded me of a skip or a miss firer like if there was water in gas years ago.) It happened several times and I waited until I filled the tank again to see if it would stop. Unfortunately it did not and I ended up contacting the service department at Jim Click Ford in the Auto Mall in Tucson AZ (the dealer I purchased the truck from). They hadn't heard of the problem and told me to bring the truck in when I had time. The problem began to progress and almost felt like the transmission wasn't down shifting on a hill or incline. I ended up taking the truck in and they attempted to replicate the problem to no avail. I ended up being one of those "customers" that they recognized my voice when I call and everyone knows my name. (Just for the record the manager and the service salesman that I dealt/deal with have been really great and have attempted to help me as much as possible – and even listen to me complain.) After several attempts to fix the problem and several days which turned into weeks, with my truck in the service department the problem still is not fixed. My truck was in the shop in access of 30 days and I had eight different rental cars that Ford paid for. In November of 2012 I had it, I submitted a claim to the BBB and asked for Ford to purchase my truck back because after replacing the turbo and several other parts I am sincerely concerned about the life expectancy of my diesel at this point. Ford offered to send a mechanic from the manufacture to attempt to repair my vehicle and once fixed they would credit me one payment. With this offer there wasn’t any set time frame that they anticipate the repairs to take nor was there a time frame on how long I would be without my truck. I allowed arbitration to be scheduled on December 28th. I met with a nonbiased person and had a representative for Ford on a speaker phone. During the meeting it was Ford's stance that only some of the time my truck was in the shop was actual attempt to repair the problem therefore it fell under the "lemon law" guidelines. It was also Ford's stance that the dealerships mechanics are like an "inexperienced doctor's" and the manufacture’s mechanics are like "specialists" and because I denied the option to have them send a "specialist" to work on my truck and just wanted Ford to purchase my truck back I lost my opportunity to have my truck fixed. Within a few days after the meeting I received a letter indicating the BBB denied my request. I have since been in touch with the service department and their link to the manufactures updates still indicates there isn't a fix for the problem. They have me on the top of the list to contact if Ford comes up with any new ideas to attempt to fix my truck. FYI I have limited my driving and only have 15,900 miles on it and have made every payment on time. I have also submitted a claim through the manufactures customer relationship center and they have assigned a service manager to my case and the customer service representative admitted Ford "is well aware of the issue" and does not have a solution to fix the problem.
