I was backing up the truck (F250 diesel) in the parking area at my house. as I put the brake on to stop and begin to turn around, the engine started accelerating, and I quickly shifted it into neutral. After a few seconds it stopped. I then continued on my way.

F-250 Lariat 6.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,062 miles

I was traveling down a two lane road in my F250 Diesel), and came upon a stop sign. I released the gas pedal and started braking. The engine started accelerating, even though I was applying the brakes. The vehicle was in four wheel drive (high), so all four tires were spinning fast, and kept the vehicle moving forward. I stood on the brake pedal with both feet, and after going several feet into the intersection, it finally stopped. I quickly shifted into neutral, and a few seconds later the problem stopped. I then continued on my way.

F-250 LX 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

When coming to a stop the truck engine accelerates and continues revving for a minute or two, both times it happened it put me four or five feet into the intersection and I just kept the brakes locked up until it stopped. Both times it happened the temperature outside was more than 90 degrees. I was carrying three grand children under the age of 10 which made it all the more scary. Found this website while checking for recalls. Noted at least one other person had same problem. Having already lost a grandchild due to an automotive mechanical failure two years ago, I take this very personal.. Will try contacting Ford to see if they have a silent recall.

F-250 6.4L

  • Automatic transmission

I brought a Ford 2008 super duty truck for 41,000 in 2012, with taxes and warranty. Was never told by Ford or the dealer that there might be a problem with unintended acceleration in this model. It can be very frightening when your coming to a stop and your vehicle starts to race and you have to either throw it in neutral or reverse to get it to stop racing. I worry about my safety, my passengers safety and the other vehicles in front of me from doing bodily injury when this occurs. I hope Ford makes good on the repairs by adding a brake override system which it should have done by following Toyota's example.
