I have never paid more than $ 20.00 to replace plugs on my own in any vehicle. Ford cost me $ 600.00 and broke off Two of them on removal. I want to buy American, But if this is going to go on I will buy a Toyota Full Size Truck next time!!! Ford SHOULD GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK FOR ALL OUR COSTS OF REPAIRS FOR THIS SPARK PLUG B.S. !!!!!

I traded vehicles with my son at Texas Tech and he wanted me to tune up his pickup and service it and make some other minor repairs. I was mechanic for 40 years and worked for Ford, Dodge and GM but never had a problem changing spark plugs in this pickup. They were hard as heck to get out and when I got to the 4th one back one on the right head only the threads that screw in the head came out. So I tried and tried to get the electrode out and finally it broke off. I called my local ford dealer and they said that is a common problem and they had a special tool to take out the plug and would cost 280.00 to take it out. I had no choice and took it to them. Four hours later they had it done. I asked how much to replace the other 3 and they said 100.00 only if they don't break another and it would be an additional 280.00 for each one that breaks. I said forget it and asked what they did to loosen up the plug so it can be removed with ease and they said they use oven cleaner. Break the plug loose and fill it with oven cleaner and let set over night and they will come out easy. I took the pickup back to my son and said you have 5 new plugs and 3 old, just live with it. WHAT A SORRY DESIGN FORD and not helping the many who have paid out the butt for these repairs. Someone sure is making a lot of money. I used to be a ford person but now am Dodge and my son will never buy another ford. That's all!
