This is a horrible design- you have to take out most of the engine components to get to the problem and therein lies the $$$$$. Not only that but this is a COMMON problem happening on most of these trucks. My brother's truck same model and year had the same problem. His friend with the same truck has had to replace this TWICE! I was told that I had an oil pan gasket leak at the same time I was getting this repaired (maybe are related?) and it wold cost another $2000-$3000 to fix that even though most of the motor was already pulled. Can you believe having to pull the entire engine to change a gasket? I figure I can put a lot of oil in my truck for another $2000! There was no way I could afford to change the gasket at the same time as make this repair. My brother should complain here because he has had to make over $10,000 in repairs on his truck.
Horrible design requiring replacement of small radiator type cooler at less than 100K ! Defect allows water into the cylinders & is extremely labor intensive to replace = BIG $$$$$$$$$$$ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
