Tail light bulb socket burnt. Noticed that bulb acts like it's blown but reseating allows it to function again. This happens about once a month. No fuses are tripped which is odd. However the first time I checked this I noticed the socket was scorched yet wiring looks ok. I assumed it was just my vehicle but since have heard same report from others on their trucks and cars. There is no indication of danger until you remove tail light to check bulb.

On March 30, 2014, at approximately 3:00 P.M. (pst) my 2000 Ford F-150 unexpectedly caught on fire. The truck was stationary in my driveway when suddenly black smoke and fire could be seen coming out of the driver side wheel well. The fire engulfed the driver side of the engine compartment melting all the plastic, wiring and the air intake area. The fire melted everything near the master cylinder and the cruise control housing.

In heavy rain the wipers and other electrical functions quit while driving - caused by a windshield leak onto the GEM module and fuse box. This windshield leak is a common problem that Ford knows about on 1997 thru 2000 Ford F150 pickups.

Since 2006 and before, I have had unexplained incidences of battery failures and dashboard warnings. The windshield was replaced in 2006 at my request. My battery was replaced in 2006. I also had a temporary engine shutdown about this time. I had battery replacement in 2009 and 2012. On 11/02/2012 I attempted to start my F250 only to discover about a pint of water in the floor tray. I jump started, continued the trip only to discover the heater fan still operating! after further checks, my Ford dealer provided a tsb 04-23-9 which had no warning of the potential electronic malfunctions or damages and not mailed to me. I had the defect corrected by a local shop and Ford was mailed my complaint on 11/28/2012 and have received no answer. I have had more than enough mailing for service and Ford should have been required to inform me.

We first had the front brakes pull right we had the truck in 2-3 times for that problem they finally fixed it. But now the brakes pull left. They do not know how to fix the problem. The engine/electrial problem. All of the sudden everything electical quits working. I didn't know how to classify this problem. They replace a module and it still happens. We are awaiting for them to fix again. On the tires one blew out in the middle of the night on a very dark road 1 mile from the house my husbad drove it home took it in the next day and the refused to fix because he drove on it. Approx a month later we were on a road driving only approx 45 mph. My husband felt something when we were at a light, we pulled in to a store just passed the light got out and the back right tire had blown. We changed the tire took it in and they said they are not on a recall even through they clearly had the white ring all around the tire where it had come apart. We replaced the tires with cooper tires. We still have the tires. Goodyear inspected and agreed it was due to poor manufacturing. On the warranty problems we contacted the manufacture arbitration board. They stated since we use the truck for business we can not have the truck replaced. No where in any of my documentation states that. If this were so we would not have bought the truck. The dealership knew we used the truck for business. The business consist of a handyman business. The most we do to the truck is put on miles. (dot number: Vnw81xl tiresize: 265 75R16)
