This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Gauge cluster completely dark. Cluster is a screen type when dark no speed visible. No warning lights available for safety feedback. Driving without speed is very dangerous mileage u known as display shows mileage.
My truck is brand new. The A/C lines and evaporator coil are freezing up when using the A/C, resulting in no air flow out of the vents in the cabin. I checked forums online and this has been a common problem with my vehicle yet Ford has filed no recall to fix it. Dealership states it-??s a faulty temp sensor in the evaporator. Ford refuses to pay for the fix under the vehicle manufacturer warranty because no warning lights are displayed on your dash.
Stopped Truck, The rear passenger window went down on its own! The window would not go back up. We stopped at a nearby FordDealership and a service rep looked at it and indicated that when we hit the window button he could hear clicking and said our rear passenger window motor was probably dead. the service rep assisted us in putting plastic on the window, which did not adhere well! We were about 60 miles away from home with young children on a 3 day vacation, The loud noise from the plastic vibrating from the window was deafening!!
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving after a cold start or after stopping at a traffic light, whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact stated that the "Wrench Symbol-?? was illuminated and the message "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power - Contact Dealer" was displayed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, who diagnosed that the gear shift module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to Manufacturer Communications: Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) High Voltage Battery Module Replacement Program Number: 23H01 (Electrical System). The failure mileage was approximately 2,300.
The AC stops blowing and cooling at an adequate speed after driving for a period of time. The safety issue is that while the blower is malfunctioning, it cannot defog/defrost the windshield.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light illuminated. The vehicle was moving but the warning light remained illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred at various speeds. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there was no failure found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
I was driving at about 40mph and everything shut off for about 5 seconds. It was long enough for all the gages on the instrument cluster to go to their off positions. The desolation screen went blank as did the infotainment system and all lights.
Driver instrument cluster shuts off, go's black and resets while driving vehicle. Antilock and airbag system show failure message on Ford app. Instrument cluster then reappears condition reoccurs approximately every 5 minutes
Vehicle dashboard(cluster) and Sync screen continuously goes out while vehicle is in motion. Preventing safe driving, seeing side and back of vehicle, other cars, etc Electric truck systems stop functioning properly, mileage range drops dramatically in extreme temperatures. Frunk opens randomly
While driving on interstate vehicle lost all braking and steering. Numerous warning lights popped up. I almost was in a very bad accident. I was able to put transmission in manual and gear down and finally got steering back with no power and could maneuver off road. Truck then shut down and would not start again. Called Ford and not very helpful. Contacting attorney for help.
On numerous occasions all of the vehicles electronics, including screens, would shut off. Sometimes this happens while driving at highway speeds causing the vehicle to lose all power. When approaching the car to unlock there is often no power to access the vehicle, which requires manually unlocking the vehicle with the key, opening the hood, then touching metal to the battery terminal to reset the electronics. The vehicle has lost power in the middle of intersections, on the highway, and in parking lots. There are times when the car signals a fault with several of the ADAS features. When this happens it-??s usually probable that once the vehicle is shut off, I won-??t be able to get it started again without touching metal to the battery terminal. I have started to document the failures through video to show to the technicians just in case the OBD doesn-??t match what I describe. The date I-??m including is the most recent occurrence but does not reflect the many occurrences since purchasing the vehicle last spring.
Repeated failures with my parking brake applying itself when it wants too. It-??s not on a hill, it-??s not just when towing my trailer, it-??s not related to solar flares - this truck is dangerous. The brakes apply at speed, did it on [XXX] in LA. The whole system just applied the brakes at 55mph. I have Repeated failures with -??collision warning system-?? and the FORD app has this notated. And at times this system applies the brakes when there is nothing in front of me! The screen (not dash) pixelates, crashes, doesn-??t work properly. It will not stay connected. I rely on this navigation, the screen quits working. The passenger window goes down & up at will, like a TX employer. I cannot stop it, can-??t even figure out what-??s going on. My truck is not subject to recall but should be! Others have similar issues why is mine not recalled? This truck is very dangerous to drive and I don-??t trust it. Problems began after we left TX around August 2023 and I was working and could not get it fixed - DEALER COULD NOT MEET FORD WARRANTY TO PROVIDE ME A CAR/TRUCK TO USE! And now I-??m in North TX where Ford Dealers have horrible reputations. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
A/C System stops blowing out of the vents. Blower motor can be heard operating but nothing comes out of vents. Issue is intermittent and happens randomly.
My dash went completely blank while driving at night. The center console was still functioning normal. The headlights and blinkers were still functioning normal. I could not see my speed or any other data on the dash. It was still backlit, but the screen was completely blank. Turning the vehicle off and on did nothing. I found on a forum that this is a fairly common occurrence. This is very dangerous, not knowing my speed or any other data while driving. Also, none of the other safety features could be observed, unknown if they would function in an emergency.
When I started the vehicle the virtual instrument cluster was blank, therefore I could not tell how fast I was going, how many miles I could go before I needed to charge, start cruise control, and many other features only available on this screen. I tried to restart the vehicle, but the screen was still blank. Fortunately the screen worked again after I parked to go shopping for a period of time.
