When I put my truck in gear from park it makes a loud banging noise. Also, my transmission makes loud noises when shifting into various gears. When using cruise control the other day the transmission violently jerked my truck as it was downshifting. I thought the transmission was going to break. I've taken it to the dealership multiple times and they say the transmission has "slack" in it. No fix for it while it. I have about 38,000 miles on it and this has been happening more frequently but it started at about 10,000 miles. No matter what driving mode I'm in the transmission just doesn't shift properly. Please do something about this as Ford doesn't think there is a problem when clearly there is.
while I was driving, all of a sudden I noticed no power was going to the engine, I pushed on the gas pedal and nothing happened. The truck stalled, I quickly pull over to a safe spot, and turn the engine off. Dash had lit up with "Auto Startstop feature needing me to put the truck in park and restart the engine" scary as it lost power while driving which thankfully I was able to pull over to a safe spot.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced hard shifting. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to a local dealer for further diagnostic test and repair. The local dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the part for the repair was on backorder. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,242.
When putting vehicle in gear transmission makes a loud clunk when shifted from Park to Drive. Vehicle also makes loud banging noise when shifting, followed by a harsh jerk. When coming to slow stops does the same thing. Vehicle has 40,000 miles. It has been going on from the day I bought it. Was told this is normal which does not seem right. I have owned another 2018 F150 with 6 speed transmission and had no issues.
Ten Speed transmission shifts very roughly and often has a loud cluck accompanied by vibration when shifting in the mid-range gears. Also will "lurch" when shifting gears under light acceleration
Gear shifting is harsh and erratic. Seems to be lower gears more than higher. Seems to occur more frequently when cold or recent start but is happening more frequently each passing week. Often shifting from P or R to D does not shift to 1st gear and when pressing accelerator engine revs like in N and then will Jenk into gear. Occasionally when at drive speeds will feel the gears not engage like in a passing or acceleration shifts very hard or misses gear with no forward acceleration.
Transmission failure. This truck has been at the local dealership since December 30, 2022 and had 3 transmissions installed. These are the 10 speed transmissions. The truck was shifting hard, accelerating on its own and sometimes had no power then started leaking transmission fluid to the amount of blowing white smoke from the rear of the vehicle. They have replaced the transmission, torque converter, and pump. The latest attempt to fix it is to replace the transmission cooler. Unknown at this time if that repair will resolve the issues.
Ford 10 Speed Transmission Problems Rough Shifting, sluggish gear changes, shifted gears randomly, and into neutral. Its a safety concern especially on freeways and highways.
The vehicle has an automated 10 speed transmission that hesitates, bangs, and, at times, jerks as it is shifting. On Jan 2, 2023, the vehicle paused in an intersection as if it shifted into neutral. While intermittent, the hesitation and bangs are more frequently noticeable while shifting occurs from 7th to 8th gear. I have also noticed hesitation and banging when the vehicle shifts from 4th to 3rd gear, but not as often as 7th to 8th. There have been no indicator lights or messages from the dashboard display indicating a problem. There are several articles, and some class actions suits regarding the same issues with respect to Ford's 10-speed transmission. My vehicle has not been recalled for this issue. I have called the dealership on Jan 4, 2023 to make arrangements for them to analyze the issue.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and shifting between gears, the vehicle experienced hard shifts. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the transmission downshifted independently. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 15-20 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine was knocking, and the vehicle hesitated to respond. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal until the vehicle responded. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown software needed to be updated and the failure was related to an unknown Ford Technical Service Bulletin Number. The unknown software update was completed at the contact's expense. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 79,600.
The 10-speed automatic transmission started to hard downshift into 3rd gear causing the truck to lunge forward, and then shutter in 7th gear causing the truck to slow down while driving without warning. That progressed to lunging forward while the truck was being started, and then finally began to shift from 10th to 1st gear without warning while driving both at typical street speeds and also highway speeds. Until this week, while driving on the highway the transmission went into neutral and would no longer engage. This is after a dealer reprogrammed to the computer and an "overhaul" of several components in the transmission. My safety was really put at risk when the transmission would shift from 10th to 1st randomly, and when the transmission stopped working completely while I was driving on the highway. The problem was reproduced while driving with the dealer shop foreman, and he confirmed with the service advisor that all gear and gear shifting was messed up and the transmission needed immediate repair. No dealers within a 40mile radius (South Houston) were available to perform the work, and I was advised to keep driving the truck until an appointment was available in several weeks. No warnings were present until the transmission finally stopped working. All previous paperwork for repairs completed to date are in the truck, which is currently being repaired again. When I get the truck back I can upload repair documents.
Transmission makes high whining / high pitch noise when accelerating at low speed from 3rd gear all the way to 8th gear (10 speed transmission). It occurs when at low RPM but has also occured when at higher RPM. During this high pitch noise, you can hear from 150ft away and is to the point where if it is constantly happening, windows cannot be down due to piercing noise. Noise can also be heard loud and clear through cab of truck when windows are up. I have real concern this could cause issues down the road on the transmissions longevity and durability. Tis nosie occurs from roughly 15MPH to 55MPH
I purchased my 2020 f150 5.0 4x4 in July 2022, I noticed the transmission having a slight change in shifting that that car salesman reassured me that it-??s common with this year and model I took his word for it. Since than the truck and the shifting has gotten gradually worse from shifting to drive and into reverse the truck has slammed into gear on 3 occasions, up shift rough as well as down shift. My 2004 f150 has smoother gears and shifted with ease. I-??ve contacted Omeara Ford of Thornton, Co where I purchased the truck from and there saying that they would need to get the truck into do a diagnostic and that their 3 months out. This doesn-??t sit with me well as I-??ve purchased the power train warranty and service contract and now if my truck brakes down I-??m responsible?! I need to feel that my 50k truck is going to last and do what I need to do in order to make a living for myself and my family these 10 speed transmission need to be replaced in all the f150 newer models I am looking into the class action lawsuit
I was on the freeway going 65 mph on California I-80. I had my 2020 Ford F-150 on cruise control, and the transmission was in gear 10. Out of nowhere, the transmission jumped down to 2nd gear, and the truck jerked back instantly. I lost control and had to slam on the brakes and pull over to the side. I turned the truck off, waited 5 mins, and turned it back on. The Ford 10-speed transmission would jump from 2nd gear to 7th gear, then back to 1st gear. I had the truck towed into Frontier Ford in San Jose, CA. They found that the transmission gear blew apart inside the transmission bay. Ford replaced it under warranty; however, the issues are coming back again, harsh shifting, loss of power, and gear slipping. I feel unsafe driving my truck, and Ford keeps telling me nothing is wrong with it, and they can't do anything else. They already replaced the transmission with a brand new one; however, it still has the same issues. What should I do?
I have had problems with the truck since I purchased it. The first week I had it went a trip with my daughter to Oregon. As we were headed back to Montana my crash assist starting going off and there was no other cars or objects around. I took it to Helena, Ford when I got back. The cameras are constantly going out and the crash assist has been failing. My truck will be back in the shop after it gets out of the shop in missoula, Mt. It will be back at Helena Ford for another camera that has gone out which isn-??t allowing me to parallel park and may be affecting the crash assist again. My truck is in the shop constantly for the transmission or cameras. I have been constantly telling them my truck is shifting hard. It-??s also been having brake problems which they can-??t figure out. The brakes have been making a horrible loud sound. I have had transmission problems since I have purchased this. It has been shifting hard and I-??ve taken it in for this again and again. They did something each time to the transmission. They also did a recall fix on it. It still continued to shift hard. All information is at Helena Ford, Helena Mt. I had a tow system installed on my truck to tow behind my motor home. I had the system installed by a Professional at Speciality Iron Works in Great Falls, Mt. I had them hook it up to my motorhome and we went through the whole set up according to Fords manual to put it in tow mode to tow behind the motorhome. It said tow mode enabled. When I got to my destination that day it had messed up my transmission and they( Ford Lithia, Missoula, Mt) are saying tow mode was not enabled. Before even looking at my truck they said to be prepared to pay out of pocket because Ford has not been doing anything about these situations. I have a witness that it was in tow mode. He is the manager at the shop that installed my tow system Gary Adams 4064523672. Ford said they couldn-??t accept him as a witness because he doesn-??t work at a Ford dealership.
Transmission clunks randomly in various situations that are unpredictable. It will occasionally slam itself into a gear which is obviously creating an unsafe situation, especially when towing. Other times it can't figure out which gear it wants, creating yet more unsafe situations, especially when towing. Fuel mileage is excessive even for a pickup truck. After scanning with BlueDriver, fuel trim numbers are significantly out of range causing excessive fuel consumption and lack of power.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked due to an unknown electrical door lock malfunction. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would inadvertently roll forward while stopped without input from the driver. The contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure recurred while the vehicle was stopped and the gear shifter was in park(P). The contact stated that after exiting the vehicle, the vehicle rolled forward, struck, and ran over a passenger before coming to a stop. The passenger suffered head injuries and sought medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a defective gear shift indicator. The contact was informed that the gear shift indicator needed to be replaced. The contact was unsure if the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
