soy wiring eaten by rodents

My 2019 F 150 for two weeks has been sitting at the dealership where I purchased the truck, waiting for parts.

The rodents ate the main wire harness in several spots down to the nub, they were very hungry.

Why on earth did some moron decide to put a food based covering on wiring?? Stupid woke idiots that's who!

STOP THESE FOOLS from wrecking our vehicles and nation.

I took my 2019 F-150, with 9824 miles, in for a check engine light, assuming everything would be covered under warranty. The dealer called letting me know there was rodent damage to the wiring harness, which caused the problem. I asked for photos, which they provided. I had never heard of this and began searching the internet. I found what appears to be a fairly recent problem, that Ford as well as other car manufactures assume no responsibility for rodent damage. It seems to me that using a soy-based material on the wiring harness would naturally invite rodents to chew on the wiring while getting warm in the engine compartment. I have parked 2-3 cars, including Ford's, Honda's, Toyota's, and BMW's at my house for 35 years and have never experienced "rodent damage". Based on this fact, even though the auto manufactures don't seem to agree, it would suggest there is something to the poor decision of using soy-based products in the wiring and the manufacturers should assume some responsibility.

F-150 Larado 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,889 miles

I have been going to my cabin for 42 years and bought a new F150 last year and while coming home two weeks ago it started running poorly -I never had that before. Brought it to local Ford dealership where I bought it and they said the soy wiring covering was eaten off and the cost would be approximately $1200.00. It has been in their shop for 12 days and it is still not fixed. Wiring needs to be replaced.
