Safety Concerns Regarding F150 10-Speed Transmissions: oI am deeply concerned about the safety of my F150 due to reports of accidents related to faulty 10-speed transmissions. oThe risk of sudden downshifting to 1st gear, potentially causing loss of control, poses a serious threat to me, my passengers, and other road users. oFord must address this issue promptly to ensure the safety of its customers. Transmission overheats while towing rated camper. Engine sounds like a loud sewing machine when first starting. Fear engine may explode.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted and the rear wheels seized. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and inspected. The contact stated that the ESP warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the transmission, engine, and rear differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

While driving, rpms went high, speed dramatically decreased suddenly as transmission suddenly and without warning began changing gear. as soon as possible, I pulled into a local convenience store where I had no transmission gears at all ( 1st thru reverse ). Looking under my vehicle, I noted a stream of transmission fluid running down the parking lot. The incident caused an extremely dangerous situation as I was traveling on a major, busy 4 lane highway. Vehicle was towed to a prominent ford dealer, where a -?? blown out transmission cooler fitting -?? was found. -??Wrench-?? light came on dash as vehicle began to decelerate. Transmission had similar issues regarding loss of power and gear changing issues no fewer than 3 times after this.

The transmission surges forwarded upon placing in drive during a cold startup. during driving loses power and will not engage. when this happens the gas paddle has to released so that the transmission can regain power. check engine light came on. Truck was inspected by ford dealership and was informed that the truck needs a new transmission after diagnostic was preformed.

Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted, causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Vehical shifts hard and surges forward during shifts. After sitting for a least 8 hours, the shifting will stick at 7th gear and then cycle between 1st and 7th until finally issuing a power train warning symbol (wrench). Other times it stays in 7th gear at a complete stop. This causes a slow pull out at intersections ( pulling out in 7th gear) until it slams into 3rd gear and surges forward.

My wife was driving about 40 mph and the emergency collision alarm came on causing the vehicle to abruptly try to stop. San alarm went off in the dash indicating an imminent crash causing my wife to almost lose control of the vehicle. There was no vehicle in front of us and none in the opposing lane or behind us to trigger this response. My wife speculated maybe a bird flew across in front of us but I dodn, t see that. it was very alarming and almost caused her to lose control of the vehicle. I had this happen to me driving alone at about 40 mph. The only difference, there was a vehicle in front of m E but I was not close enough to trigger this safety alarm. The vehicle in front of me was not stopped and I was not close enough to trigger this response. I was at least4 or 5 car lengths away doing 40 mph. and they were traveling about the same speed. No rapid approach issue...

This is submitted following the recent recall of 2014 F-150 trucks for uncommanded transmission downshifting incidents. Only July 8, 2023 while eastbound on Interstate 90 near Bozeman, MT., vehicle downshifted without driver command from tenth gear to third gear at approximately 75mph. Tachometer registered immediate increase with associated engine noise and vehicle deceleration. Vehicle maintained lane tracking and driver shifted to neutral before returning to tenth gear while still underway. NOTE: This transmission has exhibited numerous issues since vehicle was purchased most notably, lurching downshifts and jerking within gear range. Please be advised issues are not related only to earlier model F-150s...........

The contact stated that the transmission had randomly shifted from 6th to 8th gear and from 3rd to 2nd gear unexpectedly. Additionally, while restarting the vehicle, the failure had self-corrected but the failure later reoccurred. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 130,000.

In addition, the vehicle failed to shift into gear properly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a failure with the CDF drive and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Engine randomly ratted and sometimes sounds like a loud sewing machine when first started up. Transmission skips gears and bangs into gears. Transmission has downshifted while driving causes fear and momentary loss of control. Transmission over heats while towing my camper. Truck is rated tow my camper. Engine misses while under load. I fear I will be broke down along side the road. Trade in value for a truck that operates properly has left me with an unsafe situation and a financial loss.

10 speed transmission shifting erratically between gears sometimes delayed shifts other times hard shifts. Transmission has also went into neutral while in gear. Dealer says my vehicle isn't affected by current recalls. I'd strongly disagree. Dealer says CDF drum needs replaced likely due to CDF clutch drum bushing movement blocking flow of fluid to properly operate transmission. Dealer was asked if there is an updated part number to fix issue of bushing movement. I was told no. I asked Dealer if it was likely this could happen again and was told yes. Vehicle currently has 62,137 miles.

At cruising speeds on the highway, the transmission will shift from 10th to 1st gear. This has occurred on several occasions, forcing me to pull over onto the shoulder. The transmission will then be stuck in 1st gear until I place it in Park. I sometimes have to shift from Park to Drive several times before it will proceed again. The transmission will also lag between gear shifts when accelerating from a stop. It feels like it goes into neutral and abruptly upshifts. When attempting to accelerate under normal driving conditions on the highway, there is a violent down shift. All of this causes the transmission to overheat. I cannot drive in the city under stop and go conditions for more than a short period of time before it overheats and I have to pull over. I have notified the Ford Dealership and they have confirmed my experience. They have stated this is a common issue but no recall has been issued.

My transmission started slamming down into first gear while driving down the road and almost caused me to get it hit. It also was having hard shifts and slamming into gears. I tried to get ahold of ford and they said they were months out from getting it in the shop. They finally got me in to get it looked at and they said my transmission needs replaced and it-??s gonna cost almost $9000!! My truck only has just over 60,000 miles and they said they won-??t cover it.. I seen where they have had recalls on all the year models except for the 2019. This needs to be addressed they obviously know these 10 speed transmissions are junk..
