While have my truck serviced on a routine interval, I was told by the Ford dealerhship shop that the I had "swollen lug nuts" and that my tires couldn't be rotated/serviced due to the issue. Ford dealership recommended I replace them which I obviously had to do and they put on aftermarket part since the Ford oem lug nuts were a known issue. They claim it isn't covered by warranty because lug nuts are a "wearable" item (this defies logic in my opinion) yet there is no mention of needing to check/replace lug nuts in a regular schedule in the recommended maintenance schedule. I find this a critical safety issue as I would not have been able to change out the tire with or have my worn tires replaced without having to replace the lug nuts. I've opened a case with Ford: Cas-31464804-J4Y2Q8 crm:0789115 these defective lug nuts should be recalled and fixed by Ford.

While driving on a highway I experienced a flat tire on my 2018 F-150. After stopping, I attempted to change the tire. However, my tire iron wrench would not seat on two of the six lug nuts. Upon inspection, I could see these two lug nuts had become deformed. The truck had just passed 18,000 miles on the odometer and had no prior tire damage. The truck had undergone two tire rotations both at my local Ford dealership. I was eventually able to get the tire iron wrench to seat on the lug nuts by pounding it on with a set of pliers. When I returned home, I inspected the other tires and found the tire iron wrench would not seat on three other lug nuts. I contacted my local Ford dealer to see if there was any history of problems with lug nuts becoming deformed and was told while they had had some previous issues with lug nuts on other Ford vehicles, the F-150 was not one of them. I then researched lug nuts on a F-150 forum and discovered that Ford had a history of faulty lug nuts dating back to at least 2015. In some cases people were forced to call for roadside assistance to get the lug nuts removed. In a few cases the roadside assistance attendant was unsuccessful at removing the lug nuts and the vehicle had to be towed for more detailed lug nut measures. Some people may question why this should be raised as a safety issue. I can tell you this happened on a rural highway on a moonless night. My rear driver's side tire went flat very quickly. Fortunately, I was able to exit the highway on the last exit before a 60 mile stretch or else I would have had to try to make the change next to the highway. A reasonable person should expect lug nuts to be removed without issue using the equipment supplied with the truck. A week after this happened, I bought a complete set of aftermarket lug nuts the Ford forum had recommended.

I purchased a new 2018 F-150 platinum with hankook dynapro htm 275/55/20 tires. At 5,000 miles the rear driver tire developed a bulge in the sidewall approximately 3 inches long and 3/4 inch wide from center of sidewall to the tread. At 7,500 miles a similar bulge developed in the front driver tire. Frontier Ford in santa clara, ca service department told me to call hankook and hankook told me it was the dealers responsibility to warranty the tire. These tires are defective and unsafe to drive on and I need help to get someone to take action. There are several reports online regarding hankook tire sidewall and tread defects and this tire needs to be added to a recall list before it causes harm. Pictures and service records can be obtained from frontier Ford and Ford Motor Corp case #cas-22012913. If you are experiencing a similar issue with hankook tires please report your concerns to help prevent these tires from causing an accident or real harm. Thank you

Issue: Random low tire pressure alert. Occurs at any time. Two events were dangerous, one in rush hour construction zone and the other during a tornado. The codes self clear after a time period. Dealer (crest Ford) said no codes retained by the truck. Ford has not responded to the issue or offered a fix. Opened a case with Ford #cas17681018 last week. Issue is failure to repair, no retention of safety related codes, and why after 10 minutes the dash low tire alarm self clears. All issues occur while driving, both on freeway and surface streets. This issue has occurred since taking delivery of the new vehicle.

2018 F-150 Ford super cab pick up. I had heard about swollen lug nuts and when I tried my lug nut wrench that came with vehicle, it would not fit. The issue is Ford uses a 2 piece lug nut and overtime they swell causing the outer layer to swell and that is why the vehicle lug nut wrench will not fit. I checked with the selling dealership and they said it is a rea deal. I asked if they had replacement nuts that are not oem 2 piece nuts. I was told yes but I will not sell them because I would have the same issue. So Ford doesn't even have an option to fix this issue. I was told buy the one piece nut at an auto store. Ford is in a class action lawsuit and will not comment about a recall and replacement nuts and that maybe the reason they are not offering a satisfactory replacement nut. If one wants to replace them you are on your own dime. It affects my escape as well as most of Ford products it was stationary in my garage but doing research it is occurring frequently on the road
