I have a 2018 F-150. I had no issues with the truck until July 11th when I was traveling with my wife on a short vacation. I was traveling approx. 45mph and turning left when the steering wheel "hung up" and I had to physically pull the wheel back to go straight. This happened consistently for about 15-minutes and then stopped. It never happened again until July 23rd while traveling on the WV Turnpike at 70mph. I was surrounded by cars and it really scared me when it happened.

I took the truck to the Ford Dealership in my area and they couldn't find any issues with the steering. I called Ford and spoke with Customer Service and the rep told me she had never had this reported. I don't drive the truck to work and there are times when I won't start it for a week or more. The Customer Service Rep told me that if it happened again, try to take it to the closest dealership.

On 8/23/20, I was driving the truck on a 2-lane road near home when the steering wheel "hung up" while turning left at approx. 45mph. The truck continued turning left and I had to physically force the steering wheel back to get the vehicle to straighten back up.

I've done google searches for issues and on some of the message boards other users describe exactly what is happening with my steering. Is there any recourse to get the issue fixed?

I really like the truck, so I don't want to bad mouth Ford if this is only happening to me. I bought this truck used and after driving it for awhile, getting used to it, I noticed when turning to the left, not a full turn, but more of a curve, at times, the steering wheel would not return without me assisting. When I do this, it feels like a small jolt, a bump, then returns as usual. It really makes you keep you mind alert so you don't pull it back too far and end up in another lane. I had the dealership look at it while it was still under warranty but they said they couldn't find anything wrong. Later I checked the internet to see if anyone else might be experiencing this problem and there were other owners with the same or similar problems. To my knowledge there was never a "fix" found for this.

Eventually I contacted my salesman, after seeing reports in the internet, to which he denied knowing anything about steering problems on this F150.

To back up just a bit, my wife was driving it one day and was picking me up from work. As she pulled into the parking lot, a right turn, a very loud clicking noise started around the right front wheel area. I immediately took it to the Ford dealer, about a mile away, but the clicking stopped just before I got there. Since the noise stopped, there was nothing they could do. As I was going home, it started clicking again, but only for a short time, then stopped and has never done it again. I was thinking maybe this truck has, had, steering assist and something came loose causing the clicking, then eventually the problem I'm having today. Well it's out of Warranty now and I'm still driving it back and forth from work... just trying to be very careful with it.

I purchased a brand new Ford F-150 in late June. It had always seemed as if steering was sloppy but problem has gotten worse. The truck will veer to the left (oncoming traffic) the minute you take your hands off the wheel. Once fought back straight it will take off the other direction or right back towards the left lane. It seems to come and go but never will just go straight down the road, always fighting the wheel. I brought it back to the dealer I purchased it from and they did an alignment and played around with tires swapping them from side to side. Still no resolution. I next brought it to a different Ford dealer closer to where I was working in a different state. Same results only this time they told me that all 2018 F-150s do this. WTF you mean to tell me that every new truck on the road is a runaway murder machine? If something happens to where a person can't continuously keep two hands on the wheel to fight this damn vehicle it is going off into oncoming traffic and could potentially cause a very fatal accident. I have opened a claim with the Ford service and it is a very slow process. I am almost 100% positive this is a very serious recall issue and Ford Motor Company is avoiding it until someone ends up injured.
