The transmission was up-shifting from 1st gear to 3rd, then from 6th gear to 8th, then from 8th gear to 10th gear without any increased gas pedal pressure. While at a stop sign and having my foot applied to the brake pedal, the transmission was jumping and jerking the truck forward to move! I had to put my foot harder on the brake pedal to keep the truck from moving into the intersection! I called the dealership and they advised me not to drive our truck, due to possible more damage to the transmission. The dealership told us that it might just be a programming/software issue, that a possible re-flashing of the transmission might be the issue. That the vehicle starts to learn how you drive? We were first charged a service fee to diagnose this transmission about $250. I was worried that I would rear end someone, due to this transmission trying to force me forward at every stop! While driving, it was doing a jerking motion that was very forceful. This should be a nationwide recall due to this transmission not responding correctly and possibly causing a serious vehicle accident, not by an operator error! Our mileage was at 48,203 miles when we took it to the dealership. The powertrain is for 5 years or 60,000 miles. We paid $3,520 + the $250 to diagnose. Ford paid $2,880 due to the low mileage and it just ran out of warranty. If you notice any unexplained jerking motion while driving get it checked out ASAP! When it gets close to negative temps the door locks won-??t work to close the door and the door won-??t actually close. I can-??t drive with me door open. I have had the recall and door were fixed 2021 and it is a occurred event
Passenger door will not stay latched during cold weather. Have to hold the door closed to keep it from opening, takes about 30 minutes for it to latch again after vehicle is fully warm. Huge safety hazard, door could come open at anytime or the worst case scenario someone could fall out of vehicle.

My 2018 Ford F-150, 3.5l Ecoboost truck is experiencing hard shifting between gears. The transmission races in the lower gear and then has a hard think into the next gear.

Twelve months ago I took my truck in for service and was informed that the rear lug nuts were compressed and needed to be replaced. I did so and paid over $130. Yesterday, I again took my vehicle in for service and was informed that the front lug nuts were compressed and paid $141 plus labor to have those replaced. Dealer indicated that this was a common issue found on Ford F-150 vehicles. When I asked if there was a recall on the lug nuts, the service manager said, "No, but there should be." I find it unusual that lug nuts have this type of problem.....I have been driving for 53 years and always have my tires regularly rotated and balanced and have never in the past been told the lug nuts had failed and required replacement. Have you had other complaints regarding Ford lug nut compression?
My 10-speed transmission started jumping gears at about 50 to 55,000, miles. I asked my Ford dealership to do a complete check of the vehicle at 58,000 mi because it was close to the 60,000 mi warranty. They told me there was nothing wrong with the truck oil change on the road off. I went. At 63,000 mi it started shifting skipping gears as it downshifted. It would jump when I went from Park to reverse or reverse to drive. I took it in to have it checked and they said the 10 speed transmission was going out. The estimate was $9,000 to replace the transmission. A third of what my truck was currently worth and having been paid off I was not happy. I've had two transmissions put in since last February and they are doing the same thing the original was. However, now it's more extensive. I would be in the passing Lane doing 75 to 80 and it dropped from 10th year to first gear and jump back the 10th gear and lost Ford momentum which put me in a bad position in the passing Lane. That was the first transmission they put in. Changed it out for another transmission cuz it was under warranty. This one did nearly the same thing. How are the RPMs" I noted were just going wacky as it dropped from 10th to 8th. Jumped back up to 10th chugged and bucked and finally smoothed out. Again as in the passing lane. The first transmission was on its first vacation, 5 hours from home when they threw the wrench onto the dash board display. The second time it happened last week, I was an hour north of home. Both times I had to turn around repack a different car to leave on vacation or the long weekend. I'm again without a vehicle. Todd, I feel is trustworthy to go on any long distance drives. My faith and forward is fading. This is my fourth vehicle and I have loved the three previous ones. The 10-speed transmission is trash pieces and they know it. Why isn't your Ford doing something about it"
The alarm system and hazards will randomly go on and will not turn off until you start vehicle and hit the hazard light button. If you hit the hazard button while the vehicle is off, it does not turn the hazards off. They will often remain flashing even if the horn/alarm system isn't blaring. At times hitting the hazard button has made the horn go off. The truck has started locking itself and keypad will not work to unlock only the key fob. Truck has not been driven at night since this has occurred to notice if its affecting the headlights. We have noticed that it is also affecting the cabin climate controls (air conditioning/heat). The source of the problem appears to be a malfunction with the Body Control Module (BCM). Prior to these issues arising, there were no warning or messages that appeared on the dash. The truck has been driving great. Now the check engine light is on and have to disconnect the battery so that it doesn't go off in the middle of the night again.
Tailgate keeps falling down while traveling down the road. This has happened several times. This time after it hit the trailer after backing it up at the end of the trip.
Since purchasing the vehicle the infotainment system has and always been substandard. Which is very frustration when your purchasing a new truck. There seem to be many glitches to the system and never reacted the same way twice when I had to reprogram it every time I got into the vehicle. It became an unreliable way to communicate and very unsafe. I felt very insecure using the system knowing that I would have to readjust or touch the infotainment to make it work had to pull over on the side of the road a lot. I believe that this product is completely faulty and could have been a fatal flaw for Many f150 drivers.
I was stopped at a traffic light and all of a sudden my rear window exploded. It sent glass forward richoceting of the front windshield into my eyes. It was like a gun shot was fired into my truck. This caused me to have post traumatic stress. This and the fact that no one believed me that the rear window spontaneously exploded. Since my care was paid for, the window was paid out of pocket adding insult to injury
While driving my truck along the highway on April 29, 2024, it spontaneously burst into flames. I pulled it over, and it was completely engulfed in flames and melted into a puddle of molten aluminum. In the last 18 month, this truck has spent over 45 days at the dealership with 10 separate repairs including transmission replacement, cylinder heads, oil leaks, all under 75,000 miles. The smoke and smell began under the back seat passenger floorboards, and within 45 seconds, was burning. I have pictures, video, witnesses, and police reports for corroboration. There was no accident, no impact, no nothing. It simply lit itself on fire.
Rear window is held in place with a piece of trim, which is held in place by double-sided tape. It is a safety issue as the window can become dislodged and injured occupants. Ford is aware of this as the Ford company Refuses to fix this on many of the forum websites.. this has been going on since 2015. It is also a safety issue as anyone can easily push the window open with their hand, and could access the vehicle to steal it, or to injure the occupants. Based on the few forums that I looked up under Google, there are hundreds of vehicles like this, and probably tens of thousands. Ford has failed to issue and fails to repair the window as they say it-??s a piece of trim although the trim is what holds in the window. Essentially a few small pieces of tape hold the window in and this should-??ve never been built like this. I-??m counting on nhtsa to do a full investigation and protect me and my family.
On [XXX] I dropped of my truck at Jim Click Green Valley/Sahuarita Arizona. I was hearing a knocking noise while truck in parked / stopped position. The hood latch has failed on my ford F-150. My security system alarms when it happens. It has happened while I have driven and during times when there are changes in temperature. When searching for this, I came across a number of others that have had similar issues with their ford F150/ F250s and Expeditions. I am surprised ford has not recalled it due safety hazard of a failing hood latch. Additionally the main horn has failed. Again searching has found that other people with similar models and years from ford have the same issue with the horn. Both are safety concerns.
