Knocking engine. Extremely loud. Excessive oil consumption. Brought to dealer & provided proof of oil changes at acceptable intervals. Ford replaced cylinder heads and other engine work.
It’s been about a year and knocking is back with additional noises that sound like worn brakes but coming from under engine. Excessive engine vibration. Transmission slipping and high oil consumption is back.
I’m pissed! This truck was not cheap and I planned on keeping and driving to 250k plus if it made it that far. I hate driving it now. Not knowing what type of noise will be next. Torn between taking it back to dealer, trying to just trade it in as is or torching it. Wtf Ford? This drives like a lemon. Have had half dozen Ford trucks over 30 plus years. My next truck will not be a Ford!
Bought a used 2018 XLT F150 with 22,000 miles. Engine is ticking at 24,000 miles. It has used 2 quarts of oil as well. So aggravated with this pos. In dealership now with tons of other things going on, but I will report all the problems separately.
2018 Ford F-150 with 51,000 miles, original owner. A loud knocking sound prompted me to take the truck in to get serviced. It was first thought that the cylinder needed to be replaced. 2 weeks later I got a call that the entire engine needed to be replaced - including a new Eco Boost.
Fast forward 3 weeks and the truck was ready to be picked up with the new engine installed. The very next day 3 new issues appeared as I was driving down the highway. The check engine light, check engine oil pressure, and the adaptive cruise control.
I took the truck back in and left it with Ford for another 4 days and pick it back up after getting a call that it was ready. I noticed the check engine light was still on as I was driving it off the lot so I turned around and notified Ford. I made a 3rd appointment for them to fix this and am currently waiting to see if the problem is fixed for good.
I have a 2018 F150 which is my fifth new F150. I've never had so many problems! Half the time at start up it clunks really loud, sounding like the rear end is falling out. Its so loud I've had people walking by so startled that they jump and give me a dirty look. My biggest complaint is the engine noise. It actually sounds like a diesel engine most times, so bad that I've been asked to turn it off at a drive thru window so the guy could hear me. I took it to the dealer I bought it from (and the other 4 trucks), they had it for a week just to tell me what I'm hearing is "normal"? WTF!!
The new Dodge Ram is looking pretty good now, or any truck that doesn't have so many problems.....I'm planning on taking it back soon to raise some hell with the service folks, can't blame them totally since I'm sure they're just following orders...
