2017 Ford F-150. Consumer writes in regards to door lacth freezing in below freezing temperatures. The consumer was advised there was a recall on other model vehicles for the same failure.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 5 mph, the driver side door opened. In order to avoid a crash, the contact turned the vehicle to the right and landed in a ditch as the vehicle struck some bushes. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V652000 (latches/locks/linkages). The contact mentioned that the failure had occurred five times since the vehicle was purchased. The dealer (vinton baker Ford in fairview Oklahoma) was called and stated that the remedy was not yet available. The contact stated that he was informed by the dealer that the vehicle would be repaired according to the recall remedy but the scratches sustained to the vehicle's paint was the contact's responsibility. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. While driving, the front driver's door opened independently. As the driver attempted to close the door, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the driver sustained head, neck, and back injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was taken to springfield Ford Lincoln (50 baltimore pike, springfield, pa 19064), but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17V652000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the remedy failed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,200.

While driving 5 mph, the driver's door opened automatically and the interior lighting illuminated. The contact had to hold the driver's door closed while driving. The failure occurred many times in cold temperatures. The contact called varsity Ford dealer at (734) 996-2300 (located at 3480 jackson rd, ann arbor, mi 48106) and was informed that parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000. The consumer stated water shields were added to all doors 02/-5/2018, but doors still freeze and open while vehicle is in motion.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 40 mph with children in the vehicle, the front passenger door opened. For 45 minutes, the contact was forced to secure the door with a bungee cord. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V652000 (latches/locks/linkages). The vehicle was purchased brand new in July of 2017. The linkage on the doors that should properly secure the locks in the closed position malfunctioned on more than one occasion. It was unknown if the manufacturer or the dealer were contacted. The failure mileage was 2,500.
