I had a 6 year 75000 Mile Extended Warrantee expired Sept,2022. I just took in for service (the works) and was notified the could not rotate the tires because of swollen lug nuts. They wanted to replace all 24 lug nuts to which I responded not now. I was suspicious being the first trip in for service after the warrantee expired. Now I see it's an on going problem. Guess I will keep my eyes open for a Nissan my friend loves his.
I just had to pay $189.60 to replace the lug nuts on my Ford F150. I was not in an accident but when I took my truck in to have routine maintenance and tire rotation I was informed that my lug nuts were defective and bulging and the normal wrench would not work so if I ever got a flat the lug wrench supplied with my truck would not allow me to remove the lugs. So I had to pay for replacement lug nuts and while I was waiting to get the work done, at least 3 other ford owners came in or called with similar issues.
I fail to understand why this was not cause for a recall. Changing flats is a common occurrence for most owners and if I had gotten a flat I would not have been able to do that. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I paid good money for this truck new and it was my 4th new Ford vehicle but unless I get some satisfaction it may be my last. Somebody in your engineering department made a bad decision to use two piece lugs on your vehicles. Please do not make me look to other manufacturers for my next vehicle.
Just had tires rotated, person working on the car informed me that the lug nuts are poor design, the hex is sheet metal wrapped over the lug nuts, barely holds the socket anymore after 3 times of installation/removal.
Replaced with solid alloy lug nuts.
