I am parked in my driveway. On mornings following a precipitation event where the temperature drops below freezing the locking mechanism freezes making the doors inoperable. If I am able to get the vehicle to open by using the front doors I cannot latch the doors closed. This has occurred on multiple mornings.

The driver door latch on my truck when cold will freeze and not open/unlock until the truck has been warmed up for an extended period of time ranging up to 40 minutes. I have been locked out of my vehicle at a gas station, retuarant, my house and have even been locked in my truck where I had to wait 10 minutes for it to thaw and allow me to exit the vehicle. This is a huge safety issue if I cant exit my vehicle if involved in an accident or being stranded outside of my vehicle in cold temps. This has happened to me about 12 times now and the first time it did it it was only 29 degrees out. The colder it is the longer it needs to thaw. This is a video I made and posted it online. 2016 Ford F-150 supercrew lariat 4X4 - vehicle door opening mechanism has failed on both the driver's door as well as the passenger rear door. Specifically the driver's door has both not opened from the outside and at a later time not been able to close door. When you close the door it, just bounces back open as the latch mechanism did not engage. Similarly, the rear passenger door on this truck has on two occasions already resulted in a failing latching mechanism preventing the door from being opened. With three young children who ride in the rear seats, having a door that fails to close is an extreme safety hazard as the children expect any door that they close on an automobile to latch when shut. I have been fortunate enough to notice the "door ajar" alert on the dash, but there may be some who do not notice this. It's worth noting that after opening and closing the door and also locking and unlocking the vehicle eventually it will close, but it usually takes more than 15 minutes for closure to take place. At which point, you are terrified to open your own door once more for fear that it will not close.

Driver side door fails to latch when closed, or unlatch when opened using the electric locks in cold weather (below 30 degrees F). If unlocked, the door fails to latch and bounces back when closed. If locked, the door fails to unlatch and cannot be opened. These occur even though the electric locks sound like they're functioning normally. Vehicle is stationary and cold. This problem does not seem to reoccur after the cabin warms up. It has happened on approximately four separate occasions to date, including the most recent which was 24 hours after the dealer service technician lubricated the latches.

Passenger side rear door would not close in cold weather. Had to hold door shut and use the key fob to try and lock the door. After several attempts it finally locked. Couple days later. None of the doors would open. Temp around 18 degrees. Tried to unlock with key fob, nothing. Locks would not budge, doors wouldn't open. Next day left rear passenger door would not latch shut. Had to drive to work with a bungee cord holding the door shut. Next day doors would not open again, frozen shut 19-20 degrees out. Has happened on numerous occasions. Once it warms up slightly everything works fine. Took it to the dealer, hey ordered parts, maybe the end of February. I had to put my 8 year old daughter in the front seat because I could not get the rear doors to latch shut.

In below freezing conditions the passenger door of my vehicle will not latch closed. In order to get my vehicle to a place where it can be parked I must have a passenger hold the door closed or tie a rope to the door handle and hold it myself while driving.

I stopped at a gas station, got out, got gas, when I got back in and tried to close the drivers door it would not latch. I tried to close it over and over and still would not latch. Had to drive to work holding door closed with left hand. Temperature outside was about 20 degrees. Vehicle had been in a garage so water was not a factor.

On cold says the door latches do not operate properly. The handle and latch may not operate at all, or the door will half unlatch, leaving the door semi open but unable to completely unlatch.

2016 Ford F150 4 door, rear doors do not latch, wife was at dealer and three others were in for the same problem. The doors appear to close but do not latch. An adult or child could easily fall out. Please issue a national recall as soon as possible. Dealer said parts were on "back order" and expect repair parts in February. Contact family Ford, enfield, ct--860-745-1111. I am career-federal.

Door locks frozen - can't secure driver's door while driving... it's 24 degrees this morning. Dry, no rain. I hit the fob to open the driver's door. It opens. I hop in the truck. I start the motor. The rectangular warning screen appears. "driver's door ajar", or something like that. I attempt to close the door again. It will not secure. I checked to make sure nothing is caught in the jam. Looks good. Door will not secure. So, I had to drive the truck with my right hand across my lap to hold the door closed. Once at my destination, I hopped out and attempted to close the door. It just bounces and will not secure. Well, I hit the fob to lock it and low and behold, it locks. The truck is now locked and secure, but it won't unlock. I can't get in it. I guess it is now frozen in the locked position. I'm stranded.

Whenever outside temperature is below freezing the drivers door will not latch at all and has to be held closed while driving. When the temperature of the door warms the latch functions normally. This has happened at least six times and I have it documented on video however the file is to large to attach I can email it another way if needed when I'm contacted.

Vehicle is a supercrew (4 door). Door locks do not latch in weather below freezing. Thankfully, vehicle was stationary when discovered. There is a Ford tsb already (tsb 16-0155). Dealer applied a "temporary" fix because parts are not available, but I would think the doors staying closed properly should be a larger issue than a tsb.

Driver side door won't latch; using remote, door won't unlock. Under freezing conditions the driver side door won't latch upon closing after sitting for an hour or so. Amount of force used to close the door makes no difference. Using the remote, the door won't unlock. The knob on the door goes up about halfway and then immediately drops back down. The door will unlock with the key, but you can feel the stress as the lock moves. Appears to be water related. Once the interior warms up enough (upwards of 20-30 minutes of idling, depending on outside temps), then the door will latch and the lock will engage/disengage. Passenger door unaffected at this time, but is very rarely used, maybe 30 times in the first seven months of ownership. Wet environment, 100+ inches of rain per year. Problem ongoing.

Purchased truck new, at around 5000 miles the drivers door would not close, after repeatedly slaming the door the latch finally latched, it happend several times since. I took it to the dealer they said I needed new latches in both doors. Thay said it is a issue on only the upper levels. After waiting a week I took the truck in than they told me some of the parts are on back order and don't know when they will receive them. I left the truck until they get it fixed. Seems like a major safty issue if you have to drive with the door open.
