We purchased the truck with a Due Bill on it for running boards after having them installed, I noticed the acceleration began to lag or hesitate. It quickly became an issue regarding safety, as our driveway pulls onto the highway where drivers are going 65mph or better. When we took it into the dealer we were told of a Brake Master Cylinder Recall on the truck but the paper work with the number had not come in yet. However, they did have a recall on the Throttle Body which they would perform to correct this particular issue (we never rec'vd a recall notice, we took it in with a problem) and we had to pay for the diagnostic service.
A couple months later the same thing happened. Took it back into the Dealership where they seemed puzzled that it happened again, however, they ended up saying "they had forgotten to reset the computer for the Transmission (which was a "Learning Transmission") they would reprogram both and send me on my way". " but I would have to drive it for a minimum of 1000K before it would settle down". It didn't settle down. So, the Dealership checked it out (Throttle Body again), the report we got back was,.,,,, "they could not duplicate the problem as a repeating and continual problem so I would have to pay for diagnostic services and when it got real bad bring it back in and then they would see about replacing the Throttle Body under a second recall. So we did that.
Then we received a notice on the original repairs under the recall, and it was recalling the recall work. The Dealership had replaced the Throttle Body under the recall with another defective Throttle Body so there was a recall on the recall.
LET'S COUNT......THE ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODY IT WAS MANUFACTURED WITH WOULD BE #1, THE RECALL WOULD BE #2 AND THE RECALL ON THE RECALL MAKES IT #3!!! (Don't forget the update programs to the transmission and throttle body for the computer and 1000k before they would look at it again).
Now, I'm driving down the highway about 70MPH, when I go to accelerate and NOTHING, I was trying to get out of the way of another driver who was changing lanes and didn't see me and I GOT NOTHING!!!!! I hit my brakes hard to avoid being struck and when I asked for the power back(acceleration) it like surges, bucks, lounges etc, like I'm running out of gasoline. When I finally get the acceleration I asked for, it gets stuck and rev's up to about 45K-5K and I have to step on the gas pedal 3 hard kicks for it to stop and back down. Fortunately, I had a passenger with me, who knows something of cars and tells me, OH! that's your Throttle body some sort of problem with it.
I get it home and turn it off for the night, completely disgusted with it and go to bed. The next morning, I'm driving on the highway and it feels like I'm running out of gasoline again (like lunging forward, coasting, lunging forward, coasting and on and on). It has 63K on it to date and this will be the #4 Throttle Body and I'm gonna be pissed if they tell me I have to pay for diagnostic services again.
I ASK YOU, HOW CAN YOU RECALL A DEFECTIVE DEVICE AND REPAIR IT WITH ANOTHER RECALLED DEFECTIVE DEVICE? AND FORGET TO UPDATE THE PROGRAM WHEN IT'S BEEN ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER, AS FORD DID, IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX SOME OF THE VEHICLES BY WAY OF THE COMPUTER PROGRAM INSTEAD OF REPLACE THE MECHANICAL PIECE?
I DON'T GET IT, AND THE DEALERSHIPS LOOK AT ME AS I'M THE ONE THAT'S CRAZY AND DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT????????????????????
IN THE MEANTIME, I'M AGAIN WITHOUT A SAFE RUNNING RELIABLE VEHICLE THAT COST A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT!!! WHAT THE HELL???
