This is 2/8/2020 and the truck has been at dealer for 3 days and they finally checked it out today and said nothing has showed on the computer to warrant any further investigation. This truck has shut down 5 + times, and thank god for electric power steering, or it could have been a problem!

FORD get your head out of your A$$ - YOU have a problem here!!

On November 6, weather in the 70's and windows down, the tire sensors started flashing, and the trailer sensor said the trailer was disconnected. We pulled over checked everything and all looked fine. When we got home tried rolling up the windows they wouldn't work, no heat no air, no radio, door locks didn't work.

On Monday Morning Nov. 7, I drove it to Hainens in Tipton 9 miles away and in the low 40's, windows down and no heat. I was given a old Taurus as the courtesy or rental car, power steering pump was going out and made a constant noise and turning a corner it really screamed. Front driver tire kept going low. The glove compartment kept falling out of it and when you hit 60 you better hang on. I drove that until Nov. 17 when I got my truck back drove it home and it did the same thing so returned it to the dealership on Nov. 18. I refuse the old Taurus due to doctors appts 60 miles away and need a good car. I was given a newer Taurus that wasn't to bad.

I returned it and picked up my truck on Dec 3. I noticed the scratches and gouges as soon as I got in right over the gauges and one on the passenger side. They are right in the drivers view and will greatly affect the value, the rattles will only get worse with time now that it has been taken apart and replaced several times. I went back into the dealership and reported it and showed the associate working the scratches and gouges before I even took it off the lot. The man told me to bring it back Monday and show the mechanic working on it. The Dash now has rattles all in it also.

Took it back Monday the 5th to report and show them again. Turned it in on Tuesday for the rattles and dash to be fixed. Was given an 01 Taurus station wagon with the service light on and the rear tire almost flat. I have a trip to Texas planned during the holidays to see my dad who just lost his wife. If I have the truck back I'm scared to take off in it and go that far with it just getting out of the shop or if its still in the shop I will have to rent a dependable vehicle.

Truck has been in the shop five weeks now. Ford says after a good faith review there is nothing they can do.. I'm up for any help I can get

Update from Dec 12, 2016: Picked up truck today 12/12/2016 Talked to Benny Hainen about the dash scratches and he says it wasnt his shop that did it. It has been in his shop for 5 weeks with the dash being taken in and out. So yes it was done there. The dash board controls is still not fixed correctly the fuel and mileage shows up as the compass the display settings just give a list of things on.

Dead Dash When starting the truck, the normal chime and splash screen "F150" logo did not sound and appear as normal. I then noticed that the gauges did not activate and digital display was blank. I then figured out that the front windows, radio, windshield wipers, heat/ac controls, and lights were inoperable. After about 2-3 minutes the chime sounded and splash screen presented, almost like a recovery reboot. Then the wrench icon displayed on the screen indicating troubleshooting was needed. This is actually the third occurrence. First time I thought the computer glitched during boot up so I just dismissed it. The second time, I scheduled a service w/ my dealership but the code indicator had reset between the time it happened and the time of service so they couldn't read any fault codes. This, the third time, I drove straight to the dealership, left the truck running, and was able to get them to hook up the code reader to see what was going on. The tech said he picked up a lot of "U" codes (15+) but the root cause was undeterminable because the troubleshooting method that the diagnostic program uses kept taking him in a loop back to the beginning of the process. He said it looks like one of the 100 or so modules is not communicating correctly w/ the others but can't determine which because of the "loop back" in the troubleshooting process. I am left waiting to hear from the technician who is waiting to hear from the Ford Engineers. In my experience that is code for “Brush off the old Lemon Law process” I’ll post Ford's resolution if they come up with one using the tag "Dead Dash".

Update from Mar 7, 2017: Here is the Tech's diagnosis results and the modules he worked on.

Gateway Module: ECC test code U1012, monitor PIDS with roadtest. Pinpoint test QA1-QA2. Found that GWM(Gateway Module) was faulty. R&R GWM cleared codes and performed final quick test.

Module that was replaced: FP-Number - FR3Z-14F642-A Description - Module-SMAR The tech also reprogrammed PCM per TSB 16-0015. This was for an automatic transmission harsh downshift from 5-4.

Problem has not happened again since this work was performed.

I went back to correct a poor parking job, engine turned on and I noticed that ALL electronics were not on or working, including power steering and power brakes. I was able to shift and move the vehicle, but opted not to do more than re-park the truck. After multiple restarts, the truck electronics did turn on but had multiple error messages including check engine light and check 4x4. All the dealer was able to do was state that there were more than 25 error codes that were given, but they believed a computer reset was the best solution.
