I own a 2015 F150 with the 3.5L motor and 47,000 miles. This morning the " low brake fluid " light came on then within minutes I started experiencing low/spongy brake pedal. I pull over and check the master cylinder, the fluid level was very low. I add 2 containers ( 24 fl. Oz. ) of brake fluid to refill master cylinder and drove about 3 miles when the brake malfunction light return along with low/spongy brake pedal. I called Ford roadside for a tow. There was no visible fluid leak at the master cylinder area or at the 4 wheels. However I believe that this is a major leak because that fluid did not take long to leak out ( 3 miles and about 10 minutes )

While driving I received a warning light that my brake fluid was low. Went to stop and the pedal went to the floor. I added brake fluid and the same thing happened again, plus it started to push white smoke out of the tail pipes from the brake fluid entering the engine through the vacuum system from the power booster. There is definitely something wrong with the master cylinders in these vehicles and hope you are able to conclude your investigation into this issue and get a recall in process so that I may be reimbursed for the repair.

Driving down the road, the low brake fluid light came on, the first time I had to stop, I had no brakes. Pedal went down to the floor. Just missed hitting the car in front of me. There was no warning from the time the light came on and having no brakes. It was the first depression of the pedal following the light. I was on thomasville road in tallahassee at 6:30 in the morning, light traffic, four lane road, 45mph. Firestone is telling me that repairs will cost $2,500+. truck has 60,000 miles, needs new master cylinder, booster, front calipers because the left was locking up, new front rotors, new rear rotors and read pads.

Driving home brake light low fluid alarm comes on. Worried I go to apply the brakes and the petal goes to the floor. I am traveling eastbound on a freeway (summerlin parkway) down a hill. I start to panic a little bit. Lucky for me traffic was light and through a combination of coasting and brake I manage to slow down and get to the side of the road. I check the brake fluid reservoir and it is low. I lump the truck to the next exit and stop at O'reilly auto parts. I by a quart of brake fluid and put it into the car. Brakes are back and light goes out. I start driving home and 4 miles dow. The road the low brake light fluid light comes back on. I stop off my exit to my house and buy more brake fluid from autozone. Light goes out again and I limp the truck home. Today I had it towed to team Ford dealership to have it looked at.

While on a road trip from the sf bay area to las vegas and having been there just one day, the valet at ceasar's palace drove my truck to the front entrance of the hotel/casino where many people and vehicles were coming and going. When I got in my truck, the brake warning/failure lights were brightly lit and the brake pedal went mushy right to the floor. When I inspected the brake fluid reservoir, it was near empty (see attached photo). When I looked beneath the vehicle, there was no indication of a leak and no indication of a leak in the engine compartment. The truck mileage was around 62K and had the 60K service recently which included new front rotors and pads installed by a Ford dealer in the sf bay area. For the brake failure, I had the truck repaired at the Ford dealer in las vegas. They reported that brake fluid leaked from the hydraulic cylinder secondary seal into the brake booster. Both the hydraulic cylinder and brake booster required replacement at a cost of nearly $1400! fortunately, I wasn't driving when the brake failure occurred. There were no accidents or injuries. Thank god.

Master cylinder leaking into brake booster. Only warning is low brake fluid light. Known issue on 13, 14 ecoboost models. Just driving down the interstate and low brake fluid level warning came on. Pulled over and put more fluid in master cylinder. By the time we got to the end of parking lot needed fluid again. Took to Ford dealer where they said needed new master cylinder and brake booster replaced. Parts and labor over $900. This should not be a normal failure for a truck that has less than 62000 miles on it. Thankfully we did not have a more catastrophic situation.

While driving my kids to school I was stopped at a red light when the low brake fluid light came on. The traffic light turned green and as I was driving I went to apply the brakes and the pedal went completely to the floor. I had to shift the car into neutral and use the emergency brake to assist me in stopping the vehicle. I stopped 2 feet short of crashing into a vehicle in front of me. I pulled over and opened the hood. The brake fluid reservoir was almost empty. I stopped at a near by midas and was told that there was a massive leak from the master cylinder to the brake booster (booster was completely filled with brake fluid). I have seen that there is a recall for 2013-2014 F150S that are having the same issue. I can assure you that this problem is affecting the 2015S also. There was no warning other than the light coming on and I immediately lost almost complete braking power to the vehicle. This is a serious concern and a frightening one as it happens with children inside the vehicle.

Sudden brake failure after a brake fluid low level caution. This happened after approximately 5 minutes while on the highway at 65 mph. Luckily I didn't crash into anything and was able to stop with remaining brake pressure. The dealership said it was caused by a failed master brake cylinder and caused the brake pump to fail. Total repair cist $975. This is totally unacceptable on this vehicle. Luckily I didn't crash.

I was on the highway and the hill start assist/traction control lights started coming on. A few hundred miles later, more dash lights started flashing and then all dash lights went off and the truck lost all power. I could no longer accelerate. After a moment, it started working again. After a few more miles, it did it again, and this time when it powered down, the ABS break system went on and created a terrible grinding noise and brought me to a stop on the side of the highway. I limped it on the side of the highway, trying to find an exit, and the truck repeatedly did the lights flashing/power down/breaks applied several more times at low speed. The nearest exit was about 10 miles, so I had to continue to do this for some time. Once I was at an exit, I disconnected the battery for about 20 minutes. When I re-connected the battery and started the truck, everything seemed fine, but now the check engine light was on. I decided to just risk it and keep driving, so that I could get home. About 100 miles later it started doing the same thing again. I was close enough to home to get off the highway and take back roads home. It did it a few more times and then quit doing it. This was a very dangerous situation, as my truck basically stopped while I was on the highway going 70 mph, and could have caused a serious accident, and left me no option but to either be broken down on the side of the highway or drive at very low speeds on the shoulder. The Ford dealer that I took the truck to told me that they can't replicate the issue and all diagnostics come back clean, so they are not able to fix anything. Others online that have had the same/similar issue have said that Ford said that it is a damaged throttle body that needs to be replaced, but the dealership that I went to did not suggest that as the cause.

While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost all ability to brake. The foot pedal went down to the floor with no resistance or action on the vehicle. The parking brake also failed all ability to slow down or stop the vehicle. By some miracle I was able to get in the emergency lane and let the vehicle eventually slow down and come to a stop. The sudden loss of brakes happened while I was driving on a straight highway, with no obstacles of any type on the road and no evidence of damage to the vehicle. I have a video taken while waiting on the tow truck, showing the brake pedal going straight to the floor.

Catastrophic / complete brake failure will moving. Brake peddle went to floor while exiting highway. Seconds before applying brakes, "low brake fluid" warning came on. Thankfully it was a long exit ramp and was able to stop vehicle with down shifting and emergency brake. Very dangerous!!!!!! no prior indication of problem. Inspected fluid and it was below minimum. Vehicle had be serviced 2 weeks prior and all fluids full. Added fluid and pumping brakes several time, fluid was empty again. Had vehicle towed to dealer.

On Wednesday I had the oil changed at the dealership. After returning home I checked all fluid levels, including brake fluid. All okay. Four days later when I got in the truck and started the engine. I got a warning light about the brakes. Upon inspection the master cylinder was empty. I could not find any sign of a leak any where. I assume the master cylinder is leaking out the back into the booster. There was no sign of gradual loss of braking performance. The truck will be brought to the dealership tomorrow.

I own a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup 4WD 4 door since new. Has 49K miles. The brake light came on while traveling on a busy expressway I checked my brakes and had no pressure at all, the pedal went right to the floorboard I had no brakes a complete brake failure without warning! I managed to down shift and use the parking brake to stop. This is a very serious issue that need to be addressed, a complete brake system failure without warning should not happed to a well maintained 3 year old truck. Please look into this before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. At the time of brake failure we were traveling at 55 mph on a busy NY expressway during rushhour. I took the truck to a local repair shop and have been told it's a failed master cylinder, he called Ford to get a replacement part and the original replacement part is discontinued waiting on the replacement of that. I have learned that Ford has a recall for this same issue on 2013 and 2014 F150 with the 3.5L ecoboost engine and has received complaints of same problem on the 2015, S. why has Ford not issued a recall for the 2015 models!
