I had a warning on the dash display that the brake fluid was low. I figured I'd check it out after I got home which was only 6 miles away. I continued to get on the freeway (303 in AZ) my brakes seemed normal. When I started to exit the highway I needed to brake to merge with traffic and the pedal went all the way to the floor with no brakes engaging. I tried to pump them and got minimal brake pressure in my panic. I swerved to the shoulder going around 60 mph to miss traffic in front of me. I slowed and stopped at the light and very slowly with very little braking made it home. Took it to Firestone and had them look at it. Master cylinder failed is what they were able to find for a cause. Replaced it and works as it should now. If this is a known issue with F-150S it should be addressed. From what I've read online, it is. My truck only has 44K miles and shouldn't need a master cylinder replaced. The wrong person behind the wheel having this happen could of led to a very serious collision. I'm grateful it didn't with me.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While driving 60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The contact stated that the gear was placed in neutral and the parking brake was applied in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to san tan Ford (1429 E motorplex loop, gilbert, AZ 85297, (480) 821-3200) to be diagnosed, but the results were unknown. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,700.
I have a 2015 F150 ecoboost with about 33000 miles. I have not yet had any brakes service. I have been taking my truck in to service regularly and just last week had an oil change and was inspected at Ford dealership and they said everything was good. Friday morning at 530am I had moved my truck and worked fine, a couple hours later I got back into my truck and tried to go in reverse but when I stepped on the brakes they were completely gone. The brakes went right to the floor and an messaged popped up saying low brake fluid. I checked and there was no leak anywhere. The car was parked in my driveway. I had contacted Ford and they said they are not aware of this happening to any other trucks beside a recall of previous years. My 3 year warranty has just expired. This is a very big safety issue.
Started 2015 Ford F150 in my driveway morning of 3-30-2018 and brake warning came on stating fluid was low. Also brake indicator was on. Tested the brakes and they functioned properly. Entered the freeway and was traveling at 65 mph when I had to apply brakes due to fast slowing traffic. Brakes failed as pedal went to the floor. Had to swerve to miss vehicle in front of me. Pumped brakes again and got minimal braking as pedal again went to the floor. Downshifted the transmission and used emergency brake to stop the vehicle. Proceeded very carefully to Ford dealer that was less than a mile from my location. They diagnosed the vehicle with a master cylinder and booster failure. Cost $1,000. Vehicle has 50K miles on it and is meticulously maintained. Ford dealer offered no explanation.
Front left brake line ruptured, resulting in loss of brake fluid, depresses brake pedal goes to the floorboard. No stopping power. Backing out of driveway on this occasion. No accident. Same line on right front ruptured less than a year ago, exact same result. Luckily no accident but was at a stop light on a major highway when pedal when straight to floor

From day one the passenger side shoulder harness periodically wouldn't take hold, forcing passenger to slide seat well back from dashboard to avoid injury. It was replaced once and is better than before but still occasionally fails. Brakes were extremely grabby from day one, but we drove the vehicle for 30000 miles before taking it in due to vibration during any braking since approx 25000 miles. Rotors were rturned and finally the vehicle brakes normally, helpful because it is less likely that braking will send passenger lurching forward when faulty shoulder harness won't hold.
2015 Ford F-150. Consumer writes in regards to several defects with vehicle. The consumer stated there were multiple instances where the vehicle stalled, the check engine light illuminated. The steering gear, steering shaft, steering wheel needed to be replaced. The consumer blew the horn and a whole was punctured in the steering wheel. The wrench light illuminated. There was a fluid leak from the rear left axle. The shutter grille actuator became unplugged.
While driving on the highway at 75 mph the truck shuttered violently and the engine shut down. Immediately it flashed a warning that the "hill climb assist" malfunctioned followed immediately by a wrench symbol notifying that service was needed then another warning about the advance trac system then back to the hill climb assist symbol. All of this happening while the car behind me is almost sideways trying to avoid me. I eventually made it to the right shoulder of the highway. As I read the various warnings it said to refer to the owners manual with regards to the hill climb assist. I turned the ignition off, pulled out the owners manual only to find a description of the hill climb assist feature. After waiting for about 5 minutes I decided to turn on the ignition. The truck started without issue and I continued home cautiously in the far right lane.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While driving 3 mph, the brakes failed while parking the vehicle. The contact had to apply excessive pressure to the brake pedal. The contact regained control of the brakes and the failure was experienced intermittently when the contact used the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was not taken to a Ford dealer. The vehicle was repaired and diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not under recall and they could not assist. The failure mileage was 100,000.
During the "very random" process of shifting the automatic transmission, from any gear to any gear, the gear does not engage and appears to be in neutral then the engine revs to the highest RPM until I press the brake and put into gear a second time. This happens both while the truck is in motion and when at a stop shifting from reverse to drive. This has happened at least 20 times since I have owned the truck. When this occurs it is unpredictable. It happens both when I am hauling a trailer and when I am not. I haul a small two horse trailer weekly and this happened to me while driving down a steep hill and I downshifted. The truck did not feel like it was under my control. I panic ever time this has happened and the dealership does not seem to have a fix for the problem.
On Sunday, October 22, 2017, after a night of camping with my family, we loaded up our camping gear and left the campgrounds. While driving on the winding roads in the Texas hill country a few miles from our campsite my truck displayed the warring that my brake fluid level was low. I attempted to pull over and check my brake fluid level however my brakes were gone and my pedal sank to the floor. My brakes system experienced a total failure and I had to take my foot off the accelerator pedal and roll to a stop. After I stopped I checked my brake fluid reservoir and it was completely empty. There was no brake fluid leaking from the truck and I have diagnosed the issue to be related to a failure with the master cylinder. I contacted a local Ford dealership to report the problem and I was told that since there was no active recall for the issue that I would need to contact the Ford customer relationship center if I wanted to seek assistance with the repair. I contacted the customer relationship center and reported the issue and a case was opened for review; 2 days later I received an auto-generated email denying my request for assistance since I had exceeded by 3-year 36,000 mile warranty even though this was a known issue by Ford. It seems to me that not enough injuries or fatalities related to this issue have arisen and Ford is not currently committed to fixing the issue. On the roads, my family and I were on with the tight turns and narrow lanes this was an extremely dangerous situation.
I experienced a total brake failure on my 2015 Ford F150. Without warning my brake pedal went to the floor followed by a warning on the dash that said 'brake fluid level low'. it was extremely lucky that I was very close to my home and traveling at a very slow speed in my neighborhood or this probably would have resulted in severe injury or death. I checked the brake fluid and it was low in the reservoir. I tried adding brake fluid, but the pedal again went to the floor after one or two pumps of the brake and the warning came on again. There was no visible signs of a leak on my driveway. The truck has only 40788.8 miles on it and has been well maintained and has had an easy life. I contacted the Ford dealer in georgetown, Texas for help. They had me contact Ford customer care to see if they would tow it in. The vehicle was picked up from my house and taken to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the problem and found that the brake booster and master cylinder had failed and needed to be replaced. The Ford dealer reached out to Ford and suggested I do the same since they have seen the same problem on other Ford F150's. I contacted Ford and a case was opened cas-13072940-B9V3Q2. The dealer informed me on September 25th that Ford closed the case since there was no outstanding field service action on the parts. I request that the NHTSA work with Ford to immediately issue a recall for the 2015 F150's. I find it unacceptable that Ford has already had a recall on 2013-2014 F150's for what is described as the same problem with the V6 engine combination as what we experienced on our 2015 Ford F150. I have also seen articles such as the article in autoweek on October 5, 2016 that the 2015-2016's have had reports of the same failure. This is not a normal wear item and gives no warning of a pending failure.
I was driving down the interstate when the low brake fluid level alert came on. I tested the brakes and they felt soft. I pulled over and checked the brake fluid level. It was low. I added fluid. The light went off and the brake pressure returned. The truck drove normally for about ten minutes. At that time the low fluid level alert returned and I lost braking. I had the truck towed to an authorized Ford service center. They stated that the master cylinder had failed and bled into the brake booster.
I was towing/driving with an airstream travel trailer in the Georgia mountains when smoke started rising out of the dash with an electrical burning smell. Then the brakes seized on the trailer. I was blocking the road but thankful I was not driving at highway speed. The trailer systems were checked for a short- nothing. Then the truck was taken to a Ford dealer in cleveland, ga who tested the oem brake controller on a different trailer and it did the same thing and burned some more. They replaced the unit and I returned home; however, searching the internet I discovered others who have experienced the same issue. This is not a safe situation and the unit is a feature of the truck from Ford, not third party.
Truck was in motion (straight lane) on dry pavement street. Driver pushed on brakes to stop and nothing happened. Truck kept moving forward and hit a stopped car waiting at a red light. After impact, the truck was driven to the curb and was able to come to a complete stop with the brakes.
Issue: While driving the vehicle around 40mph, the "low break fluid" warning flashed on the dashboard and I instantly lost the breaks. The break fluid tank was empty and there was no apparent linkage. Ford dealership confirmed that the break booster master cylinder failed
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. While driving out of the driveway, the brakes failed and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (legacy Ford, rosenberg, tx, 77471, 888-694-4154), but the contact did not recall the diagnosis and was informed that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to discount half of the repair cost. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
Brakes stopped working immediately after brake light came on. Filled with 1 quart of brake fluid and it disappeared into the booster. No brake fluid on ground.
Leaked brake fluid and lost braking power. Brake pedal went all the way to floor. I was told by mechanic that the master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced.
