After completing some shopping, I returned to my truck to find the driver side running board deployed. I immediately thought that I had not fully closed a door. Checked that out to find out that was not true. Checked passenger side and running board would not deploy. At this point my truck had 36,255 miles on it. Driving home I noticed an array of features were not functioning. • Running Boards • Airbag(s) warning light on dash was lit • Climate Control System, both Heat and Cooling • Front Windows • Seat Comfort functions • Mirror adjustment and retraction • Back-up System and warnings My dealer’s service center could get me in on the following Monday, May 1st. The service technician began the search for the cause to the plethora of failures. After checking most “normally seen” problems he found that while moving some wiring my space shuttle came back to life. I got a call reminding me that the truck was now at 36,271 miles and “out of warranty”. Also, they said that if the problem was wiring in nature it was not covered by the extended policy I bought from the dealership. I told them to proceed since this $60,000 vehicle was not worth much if I the above functions were inoperable. The technician continued the search, finding two wiring components going from the behind the dash to the passenger seat were the culprits. These are passive components that probably run under carpeting which I certainly have never touched. I contacted Ford Customer Care and Al, who took my call could get me some assistance in the form of $400 in Program funds towards the $1,600 invoice. That was helpful. After some delay from a wrong part being received, Kune’s had my truck ready the afternoon of May 12th. I returned my courtesy loaner and drove home…
