The throttle body on this truck only seems to last 1 year if I'm lucky. As soon as it gets cold out in the winter it craps out and gets stuck either open or closed. At idle the revs go all over the place, sometimes dropping so low the engine stalls which is extremely unsafe making a left hand turn. It also causes the revs to go up and down wildly while driving, making it unsafe to drive at all since it could suddenly rev and accelerate into the car in front of you on its own. If it doesn't outright stall it goes into limp home mode. I have replaced the throttle body with a brand new one the last 3 years in a row, and as of today it crapped out again and I can't drive it until I can buy my 4th one and replace it again.
My local Ford dealership is aware of the problem as the 2nd and 3rd time they replaced it for free under warranty, when I asked why this keeps happening they just shrugged it off. Not to mention during covid the part was apparently on back order, and took over a month each time to arrive! It looks like they're back in stock now so this time I'm not going through Ford and going to order an aftermarket one and have my local mechanic install it. But I'm probably just going to sell the vehicle after it's fixed and buy a Tacoma because I can never feel safe or comfortable stopping at a red or making a left turn again after how many times it's stalled on me in the middle of the road. Absolutely adore this truck in every single other aspect so it's really a shame. But I'm a university student and don't have the time, money, garage space, or mechanical knowledge to keep fixing this throttle body every single winter.
