In the good try , poor execution category is the plastic drain pan mounted below the oil filter . It does an excellent job of running oil backward and all over the driveway when changing the filter . All Ford engineers had to do was shape the pan so oil only runs one way = toward the the front of the vehicle so it drains in one spot rather than two making it very difficult to catch even with a large drain container . I dread filter changes that should be easy and clean . And takes Wilt Chamberlain reach to wipe oil off plastic pan . With an engineering wiff on something so simple makes me wonder what else was an afterthought .
