When driving on the highway going about 50 mph, my speedometer dropped to zero, back up to 35, back to 10, then back to 50 and the truck violently downshifted into 2nd gear, back to 4th, back to 2nd and then back to 5th. It happed again this morning going about 30 mph. It dropped to about 15, back to 25, down to 15, hard shift and the back to 35mph. I have a short video of it happening but can't attach.
while driving on the freeway my 2014 ford f150 suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 1st gear causing my rear wheels to lock up and having the steering wheel jerk to the left. the car behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting me from behind since the trucks wheels locked up with no brake lights. this has been the 8th time this has happened. each time i take it to ford for them to check it out they tell me they can not duplicate the issue. the wrench light comes on and it throws codes and ford will do nothing to fix it.
Usually on a daily basis and with no correlation to current speed, constant speed, acceleration, decelleration, road surface (highway, city or country) or any other symptoms: suddenly the vehicle bucks violently (feels like it shifts to first gear) while the speedometer either stutters momentafily or drops to 0 MPH. The Tach and other instrument seem to work OK, except that the SEAT BELTWARNING light comes ON (no warning bell, just the instrument panel light) and the display loses all mileage-relayed information (e.g., trip A and B indicators show dashes instead of miles, etc), On occasion, a wrench icon appears on the window that normally shows current mileage. I have researched these symptoms and discovered identical descriptions reported for the F150 which resulted in a recall of something like 20,000 f150's up to year 2013. It looks like the recall problem extends to my 2014 F150 and I would like to know the basis for my vehicle being excluded when it clearly has the same symptoms. I am planning a trip to Vancouver, BC and Colorado, USA to have my vehicle repaired, but the Service Shop advises that the repair parts are not available nationwide because of the above-mentioned recall. As I tow a 5000+ lbs trailer, it is clear that the combined vehicle + trailer combo cannot safely operate with this defect in place.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle downshifted with the service engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The mechanic performed a fluid and maintenance checkup however, the failure returned soon after the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was also informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle however, he may be entitled to a reimbursement if a recall were to be placed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,845.
while driving at highway speeds my truck suddenly down shifts from gear 6 to 1. while downshifting the wheels lock up causing them to skid and as a result the steering wheel pulls left. i have almost crashed 2 times. it has happened several times. i see that the same issues were happening on the 2012 and 2013 models and they were issued recalls to get the problem fixed. why not on the 2014 models which is the same truck

Diagnostic code P0720 output speed sensor. Went in limp-mode while driving, then had no power. Speedometer and most of the dash indicators quit. Had to stop and start the vehicle twice to reset. This has happened at least 3 times. Recall covers 2011-2013. My vehicle was built in 2013, but dealers refuse to repair the problem under recall.
My truck died, I then jumped it and it was stuck in 5th gear and I drove home and searched it so I restarted it and it was fixed. It has to do with the molded lead frame.
We were driving at 55 mph down highway when suddenly trucks rear end jumped up in the air I coasted to the shoulder got towed to shop to find out the rear end transfer case and transmission had locked up and completly stripped everything teeth were broken on all parts pieces litterally fell out of the rear end while taking it apart put all new parts in truck rear end transfer and transmission only to have it to do again only this time I was going 30 mph so it didnt destroy power train this time only shot to first gear and stayed there limp mode is what they call it and I found a recall on certaian 2013 2014 2015 and 2016 models yet it isnt showing up online here the mechanic said that explained what happened to the first power train how it was gutted from rear end to transmission I was towing a trailer the first time he said that was the only thing that kept me from flipping lucky me so how do I get Ford to name this a recall and reimburse my first bill concerned consumer
I was pulling a empty trailer and it started down shifting at 35-45 mph I had to put it in neutral while driving then back to drive to gear up it did it around 75 mph the first time and wi5H a trailer had to come to a haunting stop on a highway it's in the past hour done it 5 times.... this is not safe!
While traveling northbound on hwy 90 by chimneyrock exit my truck suddenly and abruptly downshifted to 1st, 2nd, 1st and 3rd. Had to oull over and started going again. Now it gets stuck in third and is making one of the cylinders misfire.
Vehicle started to down shift into 1st and 2nd gears while driving causing scary noises and vehicle RPM to jump very high and vehicle rear tires to lock up. Vehicle does this when in motion on highways and city streets. Anytime I accelerate the transmission down shifts
Sporadically, over the last 6 months (but with more frequency in recent months), at various speeds or with no other common denominator, the truck loses power to the transmission, the speedometer drops to zero, and the wrench light comes on. The only way to keep the truck functioning is to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it. Most times, this will fix the issue. It's obviously been dangerous in multiple instances. While the truck is a 6-speed, 2014 Ford F-150, it was built in November of 2013. Regardless of this, my VIN is not part of recall 19V433000 or 19V075000, despite the same issue as the recalls. These additional manufacture dates should be included. I was alarmed to see the numerous claims with the same issue, outside of the recall. Ford needs to make additional considerations to that effect. This is our 5th Ford between my wife and I, of which 4 were trucks. Considering Ford's negligent flaw hasn't been considered for any recall, despite overwhelming evidence from its owners, it will definitely be the last Ford purchased by us, our extended family, and any of our business and personal associates to whom we will pass along this concern. It's extremely disappointing.
2014 F150 ecoboost: While driving ~50mph, the vehicle abruptly downshifted to first gear causing my rear tires to lock up. I was able to control the skip and reduced my speed to pull to the side of the road. At that time, my vehicle would not shift out of first gear. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it to reset any electronic controls and the vehicle was able to drive normal again. Similar occurrences have happened intermittently, where the vehicle would not shift out of first after coming to a rest. Or the vehicle would remain in 5th gear, if I was already in motion when it acted up and would not shift down even if I came to a rest. From my research, this appears to be similar to the lead frame recall that has been issued for 2011-2013 vehicles. My vehicle was manufactured on 11/13, but appears to be outside of the recall timeframe.
2014 Ford F-150. Consumer writes in regards to throttle body failure. The consumer stated the tires seized up and the vehicle stopped. The accelerator failed and a wrench was displayed on the dash. The vehicle the coasts at 5mph. The vehicle can powered off and on which may temporarily clear the failure.
The automatic transmission will not shift into gear from neutral when stopped on occasion. The transmission has on several occasions started in 5th gear from a stop and will not allow a manual shift to any lower gear until it finally senses a speed change. When vehicle is moving from an stop when stuck in 5th gear if manually shifted to neutral at speeds up to 35 mph and above and then shifted to drive the transmission will drop to first gear causing the engine to over rev. This problem started October 2020 and was noted at gus johnson Ford spokane valley wa at a regular service appointment. No vehicle code was noted at that time. The vehicle now has 71271 miles on it. This problem is noted on a recall for model years 2011 thru 2013, I don't think it is fixed yet.
Over the past several weeks, the truck has begun downshifting to first gear at random speeds and intervals. Sometimes it happens at 30-40 mph but recently it has occurred at highway speeds of over 70. I have called Ford consumer help to no avail and gone to my local dealer. There is a recall on the 2011 through 2013 models for this exact problem it needs to be extended into the 2014 models as well. My dealership claims there is nothing they can do because there is no recall. I'm going to another dealership tomorrow.
