This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The 'check fuel inlet' warning randomly comes on although no debris is in the inlet and the fuel door spring and gasket are in good working condition. The happens randomly when I turn the vehicle on but is occurring more and more frequently.
For the second time in 9 months the throttle body on my Ford truck failed. This time it presented a real hazard as we were towing our travel trailer and it's failure put us in a precarious situation as we're trying to merge onto the interstate. The Ford dealer fixed it the first time under the extended warranty then the second repair they tried to evade payment. However, after extensive discussion, they found a it was covered by the warranty provided on the first warranty replacement. I realize the nhsa is aware of the problem, however the response is inadequate. The problem has not been resolved by Ford, the safety risk is still there. Ford seems to be replacing a defective part with the same item. It continues to fail and now it's the consumer is has to pay the price, both having to pay to have the throttle body repeatedly replaced and risking their safety driving the vehicle.
Takata recall 3.5L ecoboost engine shudders at various times, stalls while driving at freeway speeds during acceleration (extreme hazard), in traffic (hazard), stalled when stopped quickly while backing, then crank no start after stall.
While driving down the highway, the vehicle flashed service advance trac, down hill descent control fault, trailer brake module fail and a couple more codes. All electonics in vehicle went blank, including all controls/gauges. Before doing so, last code read, shift to park. Almost caused me to have an accident, because the power steering went out and nearly pulled me into another vehicle. The acceleration is bad too, feels like it is not firing all cylinders again. Have already taken in for a number of issues, including crankshaft sensor issues(was losing power to driveline); brakes locking up (have replaced the rotors and pads six times and last time I replaced both calibers as well; power steering has been replaced once before, front axles and bearings replaced. As well as, ac problems. When the first issues arose, I was told by service tech at dealership I needed a new engine, (later he completely denied telling me this) instead they fixed some things and gave it back to me. Problems have continued since, like I said have taken it in at least 6 times to a dealer and once to an independent mechanic. At first the problems were covered by warrenty, now they are not, there is only 78,000miles on the truck and has been in shop at least 6 times and is only 4 yrs old. Not sure what to do, as the problems resemble recall issues, but dealership says they aren't part of any recalls. Concerned for my safety on the road.
Loss of power when I accelerate. I feared for my life, when I was merging on to the highway and a semi-trailer almost rear ended me because I could not accelerate to get up to the speed limit.

Had the engine studded and drop a cylinder, this is an ecoboost motor, the check engine light started to flash while running rough.it happened as I was passing a tractor trailer on the highway, as I got around him another trailer was coming on behind me, this is when it dropped a cylinder, the trailer almost ran over me.this is a problem with this truck I found out once I did some research, Ford needs to do something about this before someone gets hurt or killed.I called the dealer the first time this happened, as far as the studded and he said bad gas keep driving it(59,500 mls). It happened again at 61,381, took to dealer and they did a tsb 14-0017 reprogram, this worked for about a week then it happened again, took it to the dealer 61850mls, they couldn't get it to do it, I picked it up and 20 miles later it did it again, I got it on video this time so theres no questions, seems as though they know about it but are blowing it off, let me get outside warranty then take a look at it.let me tell you if it happens again, and my family gets hurt I will own Ford !!!! thanks for you time.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 60 mph, the power seized without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were not available.
Truck went into limp mode upon acceleration due to faulty throttle body- while pulling onto main highway with a speed limit of 50 mph, truck stalled. Fortunately, I was able to coast to the side of the road and avoid a rear end collision. This happened three times in two days and produced an obd code on the third occurrence. I turned the truck into my local Ford dealership and they replaced the throttle body under my extended warranty. Since this has been a known problem for Ford in the model years prior to 2013, this should have been covered by a recall.
Ford is aware that on certain vehicles, the fuse controlling the fuel point eventually melts due to the fact that the original location (7) in the fuse bar, is to weak to handle the load going to the fuse. Ultimately and at a possible untimely time and location, it kills the fuel point causing potential life threatening non control of the vehicle. See this post: www.F150forum.com/F38/2009-2014-fuse-27-melting-issue-372139/index2/ Ford has only issued a tsb for repairs if it occurs, tsb 15-0137 (M.Ford.oemdtc.com/tsb/15-0137.pdf) this needs to be a mandatory recall before someone gets killed. While I caught mine early, only due to the aforementioned post, I do not feel safe.
Model year 2009-2014 F150's have an issue with fuse 27 under the hood getting hot and melting. Fuse 27 is for the fuel pump relay. This causes complete loss of power while driving or a no start situation. Ford has issued a tsb for this issue, but in my mind it should be a recall. If the fuel pump stops, you lose all power no matter where you are, even if in heavy traffic on the interstate. This could also be a fire hazard if the wiring gets hot enough
At times my 2013 F-150 would kill and other times would be non responsive at idle while traveling. The first time it happened was while I was trying to merge onto the interstate, while merging onto the 70mph interstate the truck immediately lost power after driving over an uneven area of asphalt; however 3-4 seconds later the throttle response returned to normal. Weeks go by and I am traveling across 22 mile causeway bridge which has no shoulders, as I am accelerating to pass a car the truck stalls, no throttle response, within a few seconds it is back running normal. The battery warning light came on after for 30 seconds to a minute then went off. I had the battery and alternator checked and both tested fine. The truck runs fine for a few weeks and then it stalls again while merging on the interstate or while passing another vehicle.the last time I was driving home in a heavy rain storm at night busy area of interstate and it completely stalls in panic I am pushing on the accelerator hoping I can make it to the shoulder cars behind me sliding all over the road trying to avoid hitting me and my family; we are finally safe on the shoulder of the road, the truck would turn over but would not start, check engine light was on and obd codes P0201, P0202...., actually a code saying open circuit for every injector. Called a wrecker service to have the vehicle towed to closest Ford dealership. The dealership diagnoses the problem as fuel pump fuse has melted the connection in the fuse panel. Its a" Ford tsb-15-0137 " Ford even sells the part to fix this problem. How can a company acknowledge they have a problem because hey specifically made another part to fix the problem but not be held responsible. I had to pay the tow service, rental car, and the cost of parts and labor, for a problem that as I googled tsb-15-0137 a lot of 2013 Ford F150 owners are experiencing.
Vehicle engine light on. Code error of P2112. Noble Ford service replaced the throttle body and motor assembly. This part is not warranty I found out. It should be as I find it could fault and leave you in a limp mode. Not good. Noble Ford charge $ $338.41 to replace the throttle body and motor assembly. Ouch.
A critical 20 amp fuse that gives power to the fuel relay which powers the fuel pump blew rendering my vehicle in operable. It would not start at all. This is a known issue to Ford Motor Company. They have a tsb also known as a technical service bulletin 15'0137. This "fix" merely relocates the fuse so that the known potential for failure does not melt the fuse housing. This does not solve the problem of why the fuse is blowing. This service is also not covered; as the dealer expects me to pay for the fix. The fuse housing on my truck is melted and chard from the failed fuse. To me this is a safety issue both for the potential of fire and losing propulsion due to the consequential loss of fuel to the engine.
Driving on a city street the truck started shaking and loss all acceleration, it showed a wrench on the dash screen, coasted to a safe place and turned truck off. It restarted fine. Approx 30 mins later on the highway it did the same thing, started shaking, no acceleration and the wrench showed up. Again coasted to a safe spot and restarted. Took it to the dealer the next day and they say nothing is wrong, but that it could be the etb but with out a code showing they cant do anything.
Upon entering freeway merging traffic I had a hard acceleration.my truck stumbled would not go any faster then 30 mph by then the semi was on my rear causing a serious problem had to pull off to the shoulder.waited a few minutes and the problem seam to go away. This has occurred numerous times.
While driving my 2013 Ford platinum F-150 at approximately 35 mph going straight on a town road heading to the highway, the wrench service light came and and instantly putting the truck into "limp" mode only allowing me to drive 5 mph. I am lucky not to be in highway traffic. I did have my family with me heading on a 5 hour journey. Completely unsafe! after a few restarts the same wrench light came on as well as the check engine light. And again the vehicle went into limp mode allowing me to drive 5mph. The grieco MA Ford dealer said it was a failed throttle body, vehicle only has 55K miles on it and has been serviced regularly at the aforementioned Ford dealer! I hope this safety issue gets recalled so no one will ever have to go through the situation like I did ever again!
Throttle body failed on my pickup while driving. Went into limp mode and engine wouldn't rev up. Had to shut off and restart multiple times in order to make it to the shop. Scanned it and had code P2112 throttle body stuck closed. Replaced throttle body and seems to be ok now. Glad I was just putting along when it happened or it could have been a disaster.
Vehicle runs great most of the time, but when driving at highway speeds for a couple of hours in the rain, snow, humid or misting conditions, the truck will sometimes loose power and start shaking/stuttering when accelerating to pass another vehicle, or when climbing a hill. Most of time, it is a very slight shudder but when under heavy throttle, the engine will start cutting out, loose power and speed, and the check engine light will start flashing. When this happens, I will have to pull over to the slower lane of traffic, or onto the shoulder. After about 30 seconds the check engine light will either go out, or come on solid. It is very frightening when this happens but it has happened enough times that I almost expect it when the conditions are right for it to occur. I have taken it into various Ford dealerships as I am usually out of town on vacation when it happens. They have applied all the tsb's recommended by Ford motor, but obviosity they can't recreate the issue on demand and apparently can't correct it. This is a very dangerous issue and I would support a total recall of all ecoboost vehicles until corrected.
While driving, including but not always while driving on the interstate during heavy fast traffic, and including but not always while pulling a trailer, the orange wrench light comes on, the truck abruptly enters "limp" mode requiring rapid pulling off the highway in order to stop and restart the engine, and then a dangerous pulling back on the highway from the breakdown lane in heavy traffic. This has been diagnosed as needing a throttle body replacement #bl3Z-9E926-B, but I am told by a Ford dealer that there are about 3300 others waiting for this part and that they are so backlogged that no delivery date is yet in their system. Rapid, unexpected, and repeated loss of power while driving is very dangerous.
