My pickup began having a slight chatter at start up, almost like parts were rattling together. It progressively got worse and I took it in. It was determined that my timing chain was stretched and that the entire engine needed to be taken apart to replace this. If I did not fix, the chain could break or come off and I would need a completely rebuilt engine at the cost of $8,000. I got the timing chain fixed at a cost of $2,200. Mechanic told me that the engine is built this way to improve fuel efficiency. Seems like I may have saved a couple hundred dollars on fuel but spend a couple grand to fix the poorly engineered engine that won't last. I am very unhappy with my F150 and will definitely not be looking to buy another Ford pickup. Please STAY AWAY from FORD!!!! Learn from my mistakes.
