Advantrac light on power steering quit and turn signals will not stay on. Was going to trade it this weekend, now that's on hold.

Update from Dec 4, 2017: had to re place rack steering not sure why ford will not stand behind this and do a recall(maybe time for a toyota)!

F-150 XLT 3.5L Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,916 miles

I've worked for fords for 35 yrs. Always bought ford cars & trucks & have never had as much problems as this 2012 f-150!

This truck is just over 5yrs. old with 43916 mi., never driven in the winters & always garaged! I have had it into the garage every year with something major wrong! I've had 2 turbo sensors go out, spark plugs etc. replaced.

Now the dashboard lights up & says SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC! Over $1400 to fix! Fords say they're not going to pay for it! Is it going to cost thousands of $$$ every year??? If that's the way they are going to treat me then I'll never buy another ford, going to let all my friends & family know, & blast it all over the internet!

DON'T BUY A FORD!!!!!!

Seems like a lot of complaints with F150's and AdvanceTrac warning right after hitting 60,000 miles.

F-150 Platinum 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,651 miles

Just bought a used 2012 Ford F150 Platinum from Five Star Sam Packs Ford in Lewisville, Texas, about a month ago. I have put approx. 300 miles on the vehicle and already the "Service Advance Trac" message has come on. I have not towed anything, ran the vehicle hard, or mistreated this vehicle in any way.

Update from Mar 15, 2017: Youtube, Simply AWESOME!! I watch ed the video that walked me through fixing the problem. At first I didn't think it worked. But after driving it a few miles the message went off. This is what it said do: 1. Turn the key until the lights on the instrument panel come on. Do not engage the starter. 2. With the key left in the position stated in (Step 1),Disconnect the Negative (black) cable from the battery. 3. Leave the cable disconnected for 5 minutes. 4. Reconnect the cable and turn the key "off". 5. Start the vehicle. This should fix the problem. If not the video states get it checked immediately. I drove to a friends house around he block and parked my truck. Upset about what was going on with a vehicle I just bought and the fact it didn't seem like it was going to be a simple inexpensive fix to my problem. About hour passed, before, I started my truck to leave and noticed the message was gone. So far it has not come back, but it has only been one day. I am hopeful it stays gone.
