Classic Ford engine failure while rolling in 50 mph traffic. Happened several times in 10 minutes. Pulled off roadway and sat for a few seconds then resumed driving normally untlil next failure. Stopped at dealer and made appointment. Results: dealer did 60,000 mile tuneup. $500. Not sure what they did to throttle body. Problem resumed after I got truck back. Dealer said try using highest octane gas. Have not had problem again...yet!
Update from Mar 12, 2019: Embarrassed. Dealer installed car "flight recorder". Found that problem occurred when gas and brake had pressure on them simultaneously. This activates fuel cut off...brake takes precedence. Asked if I rode brake with my left foot and I said absolutely not. Turns out the orthopedic brace I wear on right foot was impinging on the brake pedal. All I have to do is ensure right foot is as far as possible away from brake. Problem solved. I wonder how many other similar complaints are for the same reason?
