Had a pulsing shaking when taking off from a stop. Had front end checked out and drivetrain checked and found nothing. A FORD tech recognized the problem right away from the rear differential clutch packs. He said they have a high failure rate. was very noticeable when steering in parking lots. Fords are crap.
Around 1,500 miles later, same problem again. I'm getting nervous because I drive like a Grandpa, and plan to drive this truck till wheels fall off, and getting close to being out of warranty @ 60,000. Returned to same dealer, who had new/improved/superseded part #'s clutch packs in stock, replaced under warranty again. Dealer mentions to me this is 4th or 5th new updated part numbers for rear diff. clutch packs, I sure hope these fix my problem, they had my truck all day both times and wouldn't want to pay out of pocket for this. He also mentioned I MAY be magnifying problem by driving real smooth and easy, which KIND OF makes sense if you understand how a clutch works, BUT goes against my theory of "take it easy make it last, save gas". Regardless I've tried to get on it a little bit more from full stop, so far, so good.
