I find that I purchased a 2010 truck that had a transmission that was discontinued 6 months after manufacture. My transmission required a re-build as it was slamming into gear and shifting hard. This was most notable when cold. Once the truck warmed the issue was better but still shifted in and out of gear hard. In busy stop and go traffic it was very noticeable. What really hurt was to see a recall for 2011 trucks that did not address my 2010 issue. Several attempts are rebuilding and reprogramming the computer and then a return to find a simple solenoid in the valve body was the issue. But as a discontinued transmission, there were no individual parts available. So a new valve body was required.
This was a horrible expense that occurred right at Christmas time. My local Ford Dealer solution was a complete replacement at considerably more money. Not sure if rebuilding was best but the cost was the driving force. I feel there were issues with this transmission and I missed a recall by 6 months.
My local transmission shop did a great job and stayed with the issue.
