A week or so after ford techs tapped and replaced the spark plug that blew out the same cylinder had an issue. They found metal in the cylinder and said the valve might have blow causing the metal and cylinder damage really they drill , tap that cylinder and a week later the cylinder is Damage by metal fillings and it's not there fault. Been in ford's since 1974 -it ends here.
While driving home in evening traffic, I hear a loud pop and the engine shut down. There were no warning lights, the gauges all read normal and I didn't even get a check engine light. Upon having the vehicle inspected by mechanics, a rocker arm failed on the engine, causing the valve to blow down into the engine.
It is pretty upsetting when you buy a 1/2 ton truck that boasts it is the top 1/2 ton truck for the last 33 years and that it is BUILT FORD TOUGH. I bought this truck trying to support my fellow Americans for what I believe in. And yet the auto industry wonders why people go and buy foreign cars, this seems like a simple answer to me now when you have been burned and put your faith in trust in something you thought was right.
My word of advise is don't buy a Ford. This truck claims to tow high ratings and that it's performance is great, however when I used this truck and only towed 6,000 lbs. (when this truck claims to be able to tow up to 11,000 lbs), my engine reached total failure. My family and I were on vacation and while driving up a hill at a 6% grade, my truck made a loud POP sound and then the engine started knocking loudly and I began losing all power very fast. The engine seized up and left my family and I stranded on the side of the road, and me wondering why I am paying a payment right now when my truck has been towed away and while I sit here for God knows how long, and the Ford Corporation refuses to give me a rent a car. If you are thinking of buying a Ford, you may want to reconsider cause it IS NOT BUILT FORD TOUGH, as they claim. Maybe they should rename their motto to 'Ford, just a very under average 1/2 ton truck, with a high price'.
Ya, luckily my truck is still under warranty but like I said before why should I be having to pay a payment, when I have a piece of crap sitting in the shop. And the roadside assistance warranty program, what another joke. You have to pay the tow bill and then jump through their hoops to get your money back from the Ford Corp.
Engine light came on at 4500km, went out after 250km of driving. Came on again at 5500km. Took to dealer and they replaced O2 sensor. Drove away and fuel gauge did not work, was reading empty when truck had 1/4 tank. Called dealer and they said when battery is unhooked for service, it resets the gauge, but couldn't explain why it was reading empty. Went directly to gas station and only took 60 liters to fill. Gauge miraculously began working again. Drove 100km and engine light on again. Drove another 50km and engine fails. Completely shuts down driving down the road. Truck rolls to a stop in the middle of crossing a bridge in traffic. truck is less then 2 months old with 5700km sitting on a bridge with the 4 ways on and traffic zipping around me. Towed to dealership and did some yelling, they finally give me a rental and replace O2 sensor again, road tested and same error code comes back. Ford of Canada tells them there is another sensor tricking the computer into thinking its the O2 sensor, but nothing actually wrong with O2. So now here i am 3 days later, and they still haven't "fixed" my brand new F150. How is that for "Excellence and Quality" from our good friends at Ford!!!
Update from Jun 6, 2010: so, 4 days later and they have my truck fixed finally. apparently they changed the sensors from 09 to 10 model year f150's and forgot to update the computer... The left O2 sensor reads to the right and the right O2 sensor reads to the left... brilliant engineering there guys!!! 3 sensors later and they say i shouldn't have any more problems.
