When I bought the truck the dealer made a big deal about fuel mileage on the new f150 models, as does most of the marketing ford does. Supposedly with the new 6 speed transmission and the new engine there would be a significant improvement in mileage over previous years. My last truck was a 2002, the exact same model, size and trim package and yet I was getting 13 - 14 MPG around town with that truck and with the new truck...., 12 MPG. Its very disappointing. I was also told the new engine has more power, it doesn't unless you put it in Tow / Haul mode, then it gets up and scoots but the mileage is even worse. I'm sure highway mileage is improved (not in tow/haul though)but I don't do enough highway driving to benefit from that.
