I have a persistent rattle in the dash that sounds almost like someone playing with a set of keys inside the dash. It gets really annoying. It spent weeks in the dealership trying to fix it. They placed some padding on the steering column and thought they fixed it. Later they looked all underneath the dash to try to find it and could not find it. Finally going based on a hunch the replaced the instrument cluster. The sound finally went away for one month. Then it came back and kept getting louder to where people in the back seat can hear it. I have been working with the dealership for 3 months or so now to get a Ford engineer to take a look at it.

Update from Sep 11, 2010: Well it turns out the rattle is nothing related to the way Ford made the truck. Apparently the shop that the dealership sent my truck off to have the Ford Remote Starter installed was lazy. There was a remote starter module behind the instrument cluster that was unsecured and just rattling around. The module actually had some metal parts on it that caused the sound. The dealership secured the module and the sound has gone away. Now it makes me wish Ford offered these factory installed instead of dealership intalled because the dealership caused the problem and took almost a year of checks to find out what the culprit was.
