Bought truck used, steering was tight at first and got progressively worse. as time went by would get better after spraying lube on steering shaft ujoints for a short time. Now problem is getting very dangerous while driving. There have been many complaints about this problem on the many web sites but ford will never acknowledge them. It has been brought to everyones attention that Ford did a recall on Lincoln Mercury vehicles for defective steering shaft this is the same steering shaft used on 08 F150 trucks but Ford won't do anything to resolve this KNOWN problem. Maybe if enough people die because of this they will take it as a serious problem and do the right thing and fix it. But it is percieved that customers will need to get it fixed at a dealership at a cost of several hundred to a couple thousand dollars ou of pocket. This is only one of the complaints that I am filing about 2008 F150 truck.

Update from Jun 21, 2017: Steering intermidiate steering shaft binding confirmed by lubricating ujoints on shaft will resolve problem for a short time Ford knows of this problem and has known years but refuses to do anything about it. I have lodged a complaint with NHTSB (National Hiway Safety Board) for investigation lodge your complaint of this problem with them enough complaints may get action from Ford. Cost to replace shaft $258.00 for shaft and labor costs unknown.

In 2011, I bought a 2008 F-150 super cab for $22,000. In 2012 I had to replace rotted out power steering line(it was tuff)then my steering started to bind up when I turn the wheel, come to find out that there's a u-joint on the steering shaft that rots out because you can't grease it. It cost over $200. just for the replacement part, let alone labor cost. Thousands of complaints from owners to Ford does nothing so we need to file a class action law suit against Ford to correct this defective part. The steering shaft u-joint is defected (the day it was designed) because you can't lubricate the bearings & Ford knew it! Everybody knows that any rotating metal part needs lubication or it will rust & rot but Ford made it so you can't lubricate it so you have to buy a new one in 3-4yrs.. Let's get a class action suit going. Anybody know how to start one? Ford is screwing millions of us owners. I pay $500 a month & still have 3 yrs. to go & my trucks aluminum lines had to be replaced already. I don't have $400.00 to fix the steering & it sucks. Ford uses the cheapest aluminum lines on there trucks because knowbody has made them responsable. What do we do??
