The air door actuator goes out quite frequently. I have replaced it with almost every brand and they still go out and it gets stuck on heat when the actuator goes out. So I have got to the point where during summer I replace the actuator and leave the temp on max cool. Summer I switch it to heater and then you can hear it fail shortly after it makes clicking noise when you try to select cool again so I will leave it on heat all winter and not use it on the warmer winter days.

When summer rolls around I repeat the process. It is probably due to a overly restrictive air door. So it over strains the actuator motor. It is a easy repair you just have to pop off the radio bezel take out the radio and glove box and it is a pain in the cramped space but it is possible to change it by just removing these item and the cost to do it your self is $20.17 every time.

I have seen where mechanics recommends to change the item you need to pull the dash but this is not necessary especially if you use a 1/4" drive ratchet that is stubby. It also helps that I am an aircraft tech and I am used to working in small confined spaces. At first it seems like you cannot replace it by just removing stereo and pulling down glove box because of a metal support bar that runs over the actuator but it is quite possible I have got to the point where I can replace the actuator in a matter of 15-20 minutes.
