I noticed severe tire wear after just 38k miles on the OEM tires. I complained to my dealership and they blamed me for not rotating properly. I replaced with OEM General LTRs again and received the same results, even though I rotated religiously ever oil change. Complained to the dealership and was told that my suspension needed "adjusting." Again my fault? Instead of replacing with OEM tires yet again, I called TireRack.com and was told that the OEM tires were insufficiently weight rated if I used the truck to pull anything heavier than 1000 lbs or haul anything heavier than 500 lbs. They said that indications of this is early tread wear including flat patches, sidewall deterioration etc..
So my complaint is... why would Ford use OEM tires that are significantly insufficient for the capabilities of the truck? The only answer I can think of is cost. My other question is, why did I have to find this out from Tire Rack? Why didn't the dealer inform me of this when I asked them about it rather than blaming me for negligence?
The moral to this lesson... having a relationship with a good service manager is the key to a happy experience with Ford. My dealership, Champion Ford of Edinboro PA, obviously does not care about their customers!!!!! They are more interested in placing the blame on the owner because it is easier than explaining why Ford does the things they do.
