Changed spark plugs because it would jerk mostly while going uphill and took it to a mechanic and he inspected it and said nothing major with the truck but did suggest to get the spark plugs changed to see if that fixed the problem. Now after changing spark plugs the truck shakes violently when I start it and when I am driving slow but when I accelerate it goes away. Sad to hear that many people with 2004-2008 Fords are having similar problems. Now I have to spend more money to try and figure out what is causing the shaking. Last Ford I will EVER buy!! I hate the fact that I purchased this truck next time I'll go with a Chevy!!!!

F-150 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Stopped at stoplight behind other cars proceeded to accelerate, then Bamm a small explosion truck shaking like it falling apart then lost power. had to call tow truck ,cost me a hundred bucks, had it towed home because it was late and no place open to bring to. Drove this the next day really slow and I mean slow to my mechanic who was less than a mile .I was scared s---less . Mechanic told me a blown spark plug. Dug into it found another one. Ready to blow. This happened totally without warning no engine light ever came on even after the blow out. To make things even worse the crappy plastic and aluminum intake manifold was showing hairline cracks, also the aluminum was starting to corrode from the antifreeze. I will post pictures as soon as I get them from my mechanic.

F-150 FX4 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles

I purchased a new F150 FX4 in 2007. At 20k I was stranded on side of hwy. with a bad fuel injector.(covered under warranty no problem). Now its the plugs are fouled with 31k.( $800 to fix if no plugs break thats extra)because its been 4yrs. & the warranty is for 3. Ford really seems concerned but theres nothing they can do. I hope this is end and not just the beginning of my agony.Should have bought a tundra and not waste time & $.

Add my experience to the LONG list of complainers about Ford trucks spark plugs. Their 2 part Coil/Plug genius plugs are failing and costing consumers thousands.

My truck starting running rough. Took it to Ford who found a failed coil on #4 plug. Repaired costing me $262. Now, another is obviously failing and causing the same problem. Ford answered an email saying that until the National Highway Traffic and Safety issues a Recall, they will ignore the problem.

So, let's all make them do it. Please join me in submitting a complaint to the NHTSA by going to https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ and submit your complaint.

Thanks and good luck with your Ford Truck
