Hello Everyone...

I am the 58th person to have a problem with the WINDOW REGULATOR on the 2005 Ford F150 Lariat on this site. This is the most expensive vehicle I have ever purchased. I have never had power windows, door locks, heated seats, and so on. I have never beat a warranty in time over mileage. I have had this vehicle for 50 months and only have 32,800 miles and almost all of it has been in a double garage and never out in the elements. On July 15th I was having my driveway acid washed before they were to put a custom stain on it. I parked out on the street. At lunch time I thought I would go out and get away from the work that was being done to my driveway. As I hit the highway I heard a big thud against the drivers door. I slowed down to pull over to see what it was. Before I could stop the whole window dropped inside the door. The power window button did nothing! When I got home I called the local Ford dealer to tell him what happened. He said...WINDOW REGULATOR...$389.00!!! This has to be a CASH COW for all the dealers. I am writing a letter to Ford advising them that there are only so many people who will even consider buying an American car and they better start treating them right! Tom S.

A few months ago I had my windows tinted and the after care directions said not to roll your windows down for at least 3 days, so I waited. On the third day I roll them half way down on my way to work and rolled them back up before I went into work. When I took my lunch break, I went to my truck got in and saw that my passenger window was all the way down and wouldn't go back up. I called the window tinting place to complain to them about it since it was the first time I had rolled my windows down from getting them tinted in their shop. After a good half hour on the phone with them swearing up and down they had nothing to do with it, I decided to take it down to my friendly(not really) Ford dealership(Autoway Ford in Brooksville) to see what they could tell me about it. The service guy told me that they have this problem happens all the time and not just in one window but all four and the new window tint had nothing to do with it, that it's a plastic piece that goes bad in the Florida heat. So I thought it's no big deal it must be a defect or something it will be covered under my extend warranty(never buy a Ford w/o one). Well it's covered under warranty with a 100 buck deductible and I needed it fixed so, I got it done everything was fine for about 6-7 weeks then my drivers window does the same thing! Except this time I was in the car when it fell, rolling up my window before I went into the gas station, and all of a sudden it sounded like something hit my window and then the thing dropped,BAM! I was in disbelief that now this window fell and that this is happening to my truck! So next morning got up early went down to the dealership to tell the service man what happened and that this time I want to have the remaining two back windows replaced with my drivers one, since they are obviously gonna go next and then I'm going to be forking out another 100 bucks a window to have them fixed. He told me that he can't do anything about the two 'good' windows untill I bring them back broken but if I were to go home and pull off the door panels, some how screw up my windows and bring them back broken that then he could fix them all under the 100 dollar deductible, and then he whispered "but I didn't tell ya that, man." Well that had really pissed me off knowing that I'm trying to do the right thing and having the dealership fix a problem before it happens again and now I have the service man telling me to go break my window if I want it done right! How can Ford leave it to such pieces of crap to handle they're customers?? How can this not be deemed a failing part and be issued a recall? And if I had no extended warranty it would have been 350 bucks plus labor to fix per window!! Well anyway that's my story with this problem. If you read this and have the same problem, please report it!!

This is the second window that I had to have the regulator replaced. Not very happy about this. I do not dare to use the windows because I fear this will happen again. What really gripes me is they know it has a lot to do with the heat. Would you believe I live in Phoenix. It is like hell here in the summer. The replacement parts are the same as the original. Do you think I will have this problem again? Bet your life I will. Very,Very unhappy with FORD. I think Toyota Tundra's look better to this American Veteran all the time. Pissed in Phoenix

Well, just like the others, window regulator assembly number 3 has now failed. My F150 crew cab was just sitting in the driveway this time when i noticed the left rear passenger window was halfway down. I knew right away what the problem was since this was my third time. First time, at 15K miles, I was driving along when the driver's side window just fell making a huge clunking noise. That one was fixed under 3/36 warranty. Next time around 40K miles, passenger side goes down, this time costing me $400 at the dealership. I was stunned that this wasn't covered by warranty/recall.

I've owned lots of cars over the years and never heard of such a thing. Now the 3rd time, I'm pissed!!! Dealership says there's nothing they can do except fix it and charge me $300. What a buch of #$%&!! Ford needs to step up and fix this problem. You can't blame operator error. It's a flawed design and or junky parts. I'd have bought a Chinese made car if I wanted this kind of quality. Hey Ford, man up and fix this now!

Ok I got my truck used, good deal 2005 45,XXX miles happy as a lark with it. Just made my first payment last week. Im driving down the road and out of the corner of my eye I see the front passenger window droop about 6 inches, I do a double take and make sure my arm isnt on the button by the time I could look back over or stop the window disappears down..down...down. Ahhh man my window slipped off track. No worries I have to go to the Ford dealership to get my outside code set up. I go to the dealership and get called back and asked if I had an exisiting warrenty. I said no low mileage good Ford truck why would I need one? Well if I don't have one then I will have to pay for it. $390!!!!! I thought I could buy a whole new door,painted, and window for that much. I told them NO GO I will plastic bag it for I paid that much.

So while waiting I spoke with my salesman he said someone that purchased a 2005 Expedition had the same problem, my brother in-law had the same problem with his 2005 Lariat! Long story short...I called another mechanic and I got a salvaged one for around $150ish including labor. But after reading all these complaints Im scared its going to happen again! Geeez you can't win! Im def calling Ford and filling out a complaint. I was super happy with my truck until I started reading all these complaints!

Also the second estimate I called said that only dealerships can get NEW regulators! BEWARE!!!!

Just another victim of the 2005 Ford F-150 failing window regulator. Just as the many folks before me have reported, the driver side window popped and the glass fell to the bottom of the door. The dealership in Iowa City, Iowa, whom I will never do business with again charged me $400.40 for the repair. I phoned Ford Customer Care and the gentlemen that answered the phone was only capable of reading the que card that Ford had provided him.

This whole ordeal has really shown me Fords true colors, and it appears that my only recourse is to let you the general public and Ford know that I will never purchase another Ford product and encourage all of you to never purchase a Ford product.

I heard the window make an awful cracking sound and then the window slammed down inside the door. I wish I had my Dodge back. Ford has no business making vehicles if they can not put good parts in there trucks. Now doing the research I have found all four windows will do the same thing, not only once but twice so far. Other folks have replaced this part just for it to go out again! If you don’t report the problem then they will not fix it. My husband took it to a Ford dealer to fix it; they said they have only heard of 10 complaints so far.

www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov .. Is where I just got through filling a complaint on the driver’s side window. As with everyone else I herd the crack, which sounded like the window was breaking, then it fell inside the door. With more than 110 complaints why has Ford not done anything about this yet. It is going to get some one hurt before they will do something, now that I have found out that this can happen to all four windows! It makes me wish I had stayed with my Dodge.

FORD WAKE UP DO SOMETHING!

I was on my way to my birthday party with my wife when she pushed the button to roll the window up and when it reached the top we heard a loud crack! I looked up the part to fix the window and was amazed about how many complaints there are about my problem. I cant believe there has been no recall done to fix this problem. I'm pissed if they don't produce a solution. I vow to never buy a ford vehicle again. Why is our government trying to save companies that refuse to do the right thing. This is the very reason they are a struggling company in dire straits. Funny I looked at some foreign competitors recall information and all is sunny behind the rainbow.

FOR THE SAKE OF ALL OF US IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR VEHICLE PLEASE REPORT IT, IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE AND WHO KNOWS THE BEAST MIGHT ACTUALLY DO THE RIGHT THING IF WE STICK TOGETHER.

Had never heard of this problem with the window regulators till yesterday. Got out to call on a customer, started to put the window up, heard a big pop and the window slowly started to sink down. Went online when I got back to office, found this website describing the exact same thing.... I really can't say I'm surprised .I haven't been totally happy with this truck since purchase. Drivers seat went bad before I even had truck for 6 months. The Goodrich tires at 36,000 were totally used up. Had to replace the brake pads at 20,000 miles, and now the rotors are warped. Don't even get me started on trying to replace the spark plugs.......

Update from Apr 30, 2009: Well, after talking to my local Ford dealer,( & picking myself up off the ground after being told $400-600, as my truck is no longer under any warranty) I contacted a couple auto parts places....who apparently aren't all that familiar with these regulators, as the first two that came in would not fit my truck, I finally found a parts place that asked for the VIN number, and sent the right regulator. (third times a charm). I printed off the directions from your website, altho, not all descriptions were applicable to my 2005. Anyway... after a week or so of searching for the part and finding the correct one, it only took less than an hour to replace it.... thanks to a friend who had a little more experience than I did. Hopefully , I'll get rid of this truck before the "next" window regulator fails.....
