I can not beleive this day and age a company can not build or stand behind a transmission that will no last longer than 76,000 miles... when you pay over $42,000 for them, you would think they would stand behind there product after they charge you that much for them. I also, have a 98 ford escort ZX2 that i bought as a disposable car for $13,000 brand new with 8 miles on it. It now has 325,000 miles and runs like a champ. The expensive car is crap and the disposable runs fine???? The transmission started making a whinning noise and after a week i took it in to see what the promblem was and the transmission shop said it sounded like the torgue converter. they said they would pull the pan first to check for metal, it was clean. so, they started taking it apart and found a c-clip had broke and the problems just got worse from there. I told them to stop and I would come get it and my father (who is 78, a retired mechanic) and i will rebuild it ourselves. I refuse to pay over $2,500. in labor cost. Other than the transmission the truck is in excellent condition.
