This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I have a 2004 Ford F150. Three weeks ago the drivers side electric window made a terrible noise and fell into the door and would not come back up. Now, yesterday August 31st the back seat drivers side window has done the same thing. I Transport my grandchildren alot, they ride in the back seat, in safety seats as requested by law. I do not understand why the safety seats are any different then the possibility of flying glass from a defective window. There needs to be a recall on this. Secondly, I call and make a report with Ford, hoping that I can get some resolve. They forward a case and case number to my local dealer where I did purchase this vehicle brand new. I was just told by the service manager that they can not help me, the reasoning behind the decision I was told I do not bring my vehicle in often enough for them to service. Well, when I needed tires they wanted over $600 I got them for $400. When my oil needs to be change I take it to walmart because it is cheaper, I am sorry that I didn't take it to the dealership but when you have been unemployed since January of 2009 you have to save wherever you can. So now, because I tried to save money, so that I can survive the current economic times I am being punished again. I think this is ridiculous. The safety of my grandchildren is the utmost importance to me and my husband. Something needs to be done so no innocent children get hurt because they are worried about the almighty dollar. I understand they haven't taken stimulus money and hurrah for them but they need to be responsible in this matter.
I have a 2004 Ford F150 and my driver side window failed due to my regulator going out. I was driving down the interstate and it just fell and frightened me and I almost lost control of my truck. By checking online this has become a big issue with other 2004-2008 Ford F150 owners.
I own a 2004 F150 super crew truck and I have had to replace the regulators in three of my windows because they are defective and they almost made me wreck my truck because two of them fell in heavy traffic and sounded like someone had shot it out and I know it is just a matter of time before the fourth one falls, Ford needs to have a recall and repair and replace those regulators before lives are lost and the cost to replace the regulators is outrageous. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Ford F-150 because you don't stand behind work. Please recall these trucks and replace these faulty regulators for the safety of our families and repair the good name Ford use to have with its customers.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that all four windows would not open. The contact stated that all of the windows failed within three months. A mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the window regulator failed and would need replacing. The failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 46,000.
Window regulators failed in all four doors of my 2004 Ford F-150 supercrew pickup early in the life of the vehicle. There is a systematic design or quality flaw in these regulators with minimal usage. When the regulator fails, the windows fall down inside the door and cannot be raised without disassembly of the door.
Seems everyone is having to replace window regulators on 2004 and 2005 F150 trucks. I just had my 3rd one fall down today I've seen all over the net and have friends that seem to have the same problem I think Ford should own up to this problem and also repay for the problems.
I have 2004 Ford F150 supercrew with approximately 73,000 miles. Three windows have failed due to broken plastic parts associated with the window regulator.
I was driving my 2004 F150 when the passenger side window disappeared I thought the window was shot out by a gun and just about crashed into other cars on the free way this is just junk if they fall down at will.
Driving around my neighborhood with temperatures in the high 90's low 100's and I decided to roll up my passenger side window I rolled it up and I heard a loud pop or snap and the window slipped down into the door as I was driving. It will not stay up unless I use tape to keep it up. It is obvious how dangerous this could have been were I driving in the rain or snow on the highway or at any speed really the loudness of the pop was quite concerning and distracting.
For the third time in one year I have replaced the regulator/motor on three different windows. I was on the interstate at the time and was startled when it happened. It concerns me that this continues to happen and I am glad I am generally calm so it did not cause an accident.
My 2004 Ford F150 driver side front window quit moving up and down with use of the button. It still makes noise, but does move. The window does move down on its own, whenever it wants to. After researching the problem on "google", apparently, it is a very common problem with this year and model of truck. I contacted Ford, and got the runnaround about them not knowing of any issues like this one. They will not fix it, unless someone makes them put out a recall. I do not have near enough money to fix this right now and am worried about it falling down while driving, especially in bad weather. It also makes it very easy for someone to break into my truck.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F150. The contact stated that each window regulator failed and was replaced at least once since owning the vehicle. On two occasions, the window glass shattered all over the contact. The initial failure was repaired by the dealer. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility for repairs to the remaining windows. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000 and the current mileage was 51,000. Updated 11/16/10.
All 4 windows have stopped working on my 2004 Ford F-150 truck also my rear slider is now failing and I have another window out and 2 more failing ! gezzzzz seriously expensive and frustrating ! 1. driving on major freeway in my 2004 Ford F150 when I here a pop and turn around and notice my back window missing, 2 weeks later I hear the same pop and notice my front side passenger window was sliding down. 1 month after that im riding alone and my driver side passenger window would not work on command. Now im riding in my car with 3 windows not working. I have paper holding my windows up as I called Ford and was told it would cost me 420 per window to repair not including tax. I also was told to expect my 4th window to go out as well.
1. when rolling my passenger window up I heard a loud pop and the window fell back down into the door. 2. now my window wont roll up and the cable on the main pulley is wrapped around the pulley axle and is kinked in several places. 3. I am having to buy a whole new regulator and maybe even a new motor for my door just so I can keep the water and bugs out of my truck and the air in.
