This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My F150 has had three of the four power window mechanisms fail. The drivers window failed in 9/2008 at 53000 while being used at an atm. The rear passenger window failed in April 2010 at 75,000 miles. This window went down on its own suddenly without pressing the switch. This failure occurred while driving at highway speeds. The front passenger window failed in Sept 2010 at 85000 miles. This window went down suddenly on its own without pressing the switch. The failure occurred while driving on an on-ramp and merging into traffic. The sudden and unexpected nature of the last 2 failures are a safety hazard due to the distraction caused while driving. The failures occurred beyond the warranty period, so Ford would not provide any support. I ordered new window regulators and replaced them myself. The parts from the third failure are available.
2004 Ford F-150 crew cab lariat. Driving in rainstorm, the power window regulator fails and the window comes crashing down. This is the 3rd of 4 windows that has fell down for no reason in a 18 mo. Period. The shock and surprise has caused me to lose control and run into a fence. Had this been on a freeway it could be worse.
Window regulator failure. Window falls down into the door. I have had three windows to do this so far. I have replace only one and it broke again. Can not afford to keep replacing faulty parts.
Two window regulator's broken in 6 days, I am only one of over 800 complaints on this website alone.. just think about how many thousands there must be that just go to the dealer and never take the time to go online to complain. I can see that Ford as well as NHTSA has no plans to correct this safety issue. If someone knows of a good class action lawsuit lawyer let me know. I think we must need someone to die in an accident related to this issue before anything will be done. I should have never left Toyota, I had three different Toyota trucks and never saw a shop other than for an oil change. My 04 F150 had a transmission failure at 75,000 on the dot.. I have put over $5,000 of maintenance into my truck in the four years I have owned it.
2004 Ford F150 window regulator, this is the second failure that I have had. The first happen as I was driving, there was a loud pop noise in the drivers door. The second time I was also driving and the rear right window just dropped down into the door.

I have a 2004 Ford F-150, supercrew, pickup I purchased new from a dealer. I have replaced the window regulator on the driver's door 2 times already, and right now it is failing again.
2004 Ford F-150 this is the third time three separate incidents where my windows first the passenger rear window then the drive window now its the passenger on the drive side all occurred within a year had two windows replaced at a whooping $450 at a Ford dealer.
My Ford F-150 drivers window popped extremely loud and fell into the door. I was driving on the highway when this took place and it made me jerk the wheel because I thought another car had hit me. I have done some research on this and it appears this is a systemic problem with Ford. I would consider this a serious safety issue with the Ford product. The window just falls for no reason and apparently the dealer is taking advantage of the situation and over charging. According to the web discussions, countless complaints have been made with Ford and ntsb over this issue. This makes both organizations liable because of notifications made. Ignorance is not an excuse! this is not an isolated issue but systemic with Ford. Just read some of the stories posted and you will be alarmed at the incidents. As always, until a deaths are recorded, this matter will be shelved. The consumer should be recognized since we are the ones paying for the products and supporting business. I will also being posting this on the nbc news website as well.
2004 Ford F-150 windows failing, and falling down while traveling on interstate. (multiple windows within two days) voltage regulator failure. (3 windows in two days).
About one month ago, 2004 F150 back front driver side window fell because the regulator stopped working. I big pop was heard before the window started to fall. I had it repaired for about $300. Yesterday, my back passenger side window fell because the regulator broke. It is currently clamped with wedges so the window will not fall.
Faulty window regulator components. I replaced driver side, rear passenger (2004 F150 lariat crew cab) window regulator. Seemed to be an old part that had to be replaced, until a few months, the passenger side, rear passenger window regulator also failed. Now it is a concern. The reason for the complaint now is because my 3rd regulator busted, this time it was the front passenger window regulator that failed. Now this really presents a problem and this needs to be recalled. The only one left to fail is my driver door. The master switch was also replaced at the same time the 1st incident occurred, so that can be ruled out. In all instances, I heard a sound coming from the window regulator motor, following with a sudden drop of the windows. Call me lucky but none of the windows shattered from the fall into the door compartment. Looks like for D beefed up on the pulley assembly of the new, replacement window regulators. Seeking repairs of new incidents and reimbursement for replaced parts.
Currently own a 2004 Ford F150 FX4. The driver side window suddenly fell off the track while driving and into the door, thankfully it didn't shatter. Took it to the dealership, wasn't covered under warranty. It was the window regulator. Cost around $500 to fix it. A year later the driver side window fell of track when shutting the door and fell down into it. Don't really have the money to fix it, so we rigged it to stay up, however it falls slowly while driving and we have to keep pushing it up. Now the rear passenger window has fallen down- where our child sits and this is becoming a problem. $1500 to fix 3 windows in 2 years is not acceptable on something that is clearly a defect. Ford claims they are waiting for the NHTSA to require the recall from Ford, until that happens they wont correct the problem. This is a safety issue as well as a consumer issue. Please continue to advise Ford of this defect and urge the recall.
2004 Ford F-150 power window regulator failed on two of the four doors while driving causing the windows to come crashing down shattering one. Contacted landers Ford in collierville, tn, who sold me replacements parts but, since the parts are not part of a recall, would not provide without cost. Both assemblies had to be replaced along with one window.
I was driving my Ford F-150 pickup into my garage. I pushed the window button to roll down my window and my window dropped to the bottom of my door in a split second. I heard the window glass break. I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow to get the window replaced along with the defective window regulator. I will likely have to have all 4 regulators replaced so this doesn't happen while I am driving or while my vehicle is sitting unattended in a parking lot.
2004 Ford F150 window regulator failure. I had two window failures in the same day, and had one fixed this past July 2010. This is three window regulator failures in a matter of 3 months. According to the web this has happened alot to Ford trucks and should have a recall due to the regulator failures!
I have a 2004 Ford F-150 truck, and while my wife was driving to work one morning wham the drivers side window came crashing down and she nearly wrecked due to the scare. My complaint is the regulator has gone out. I looked into having this repaired and was shocked as to how many complaints their were on this exact same issue. I have had to replace the regulator and am wondering what it will take before Ford or NHTSA does something "recall". I pray that it does not take the loss of life to have this piece of plastic replaced.
Power windows breaking. Driver window made a loud pop and window fell inside door. 1 week later the same thing happened on passenger side after window started to make a grinding noise. The two rear windows are now making the same grinding noise. Have not repaired yet because it cost to much to fix.
