2004 Ford F-150. Consumer states airbag inadvertently deployed. The consumer stated he received a recall notice in May 2011 regarding inadvertent air bag deployment due to a manufacturing defect. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall work and was returned on May 20, 2011. However, on November 8, 2011 the air bag inadvertently deployed, when one of his employees started the vehicle. The employee suffered a minor injury to her wrist/hand. A Ford field engineer inspected the vehicle on May 2, 2012 and found that a wiring problem caused the air bag to deploy. Ford offered the consumer $747 which he had to pay the dealer in order to fix the vehicle, but only if the he signed a release.

2004 Ford F-150. Consumer writes in regards to recall concerning wiring harness could chafe and break and cause the airbag to deploy the consumer stated after the wiring harness was replaced under the recall, the air bag light continued to stay on. The consumer returned to the dealer, where it was discovered the air bag control module had failed. The consumer believed the wiring breaking and shorting caused the module to fail. The consumer was informed he would have to pay for the module even though the recall item may have caused the failure.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that he tried to schedule an appointment with several dealers after receiving a recall notice in regards to campaign id number 11V107000(air bags frontal, driver side inflator module). The dealers advised him that they were unable to schedule an appointment because the parts were on back order. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
