I bought a new battery and after it was installed, truck would completely die at intermittent times with no warning. It is a wonder that I was not involved in a wreck. There surely is a recall for this possibly lethal problem. When the diagnostic test was ran, it did not catch the malfunction. There may be many fatal f150 wrecks caused by this problem-I was just lucky I did not run over a sign or hit a tree where it died and left me with no way to control the vehicle until it rolled to a stop, This has to be as big of a problem as the airbag issues in recent years, but is not being divulged to the public as far as me hearing about it. Thank you.

I have a 2004 f150. I traded my car for this truck thinking it would be worth it. When I first got this truck when accelerating at about 50 mph it would have a severe shake. also when coming to a stop the truck will stall. I took it to a garage and they thought that maybe the cats were plugged. I had bought two little did I know there was four on the truck. Anyway after taking it to a garage they told me that the cats I bought were 16in and the ones on the truck were 14in. They ended up taking off all four cats and only putting two back on with two oxygen sensors and moved my resonator forward. That costed me a little over $300. anyways since I got the truck back from the garage it runs worse then it did. the shake occurs at about 30mph now and shakes a lot worse then it did before. It stills stalls at stops and does not like to climb any hills whatsoever. I'm about ready to drive this truck across the scale at the junk yard as far as pouring more money into it. I don't know what the problem could be. Any help is appreciated.

Did all prevent maintenance to a gnat's ass and the engine completely acted up, no acceleration, died at stoplight, high rpm rev with no movement all in one day. Not to mention the highly expensive original spark plugs that break off in the motor. Threw itself a thousand codes on the day it died; mechanic said it would need a complete new motor so decided to get rid of it for $2,500 when it had a blue book value of $8,000.

When I purchase this truck in 2005 with 7000 miles this truck 2004 Ford F-150 FX4 5.4L engine I heard a click, click, click On the engine I ask the Ford dealer what they told me is something normal on this engines Stupid!! me instead of start a complaint I keep the truck ... because I like it, later in couple more years you can hear a louder noise and some people ask me ... Hey why your engine sound like that and I told them my stupid believe Oooo is normal NOW !!!! the real story I was driving on April 29, 2017 on my way to B-Day party on the San Diego freeway 56 and the truck just start with a super loud noise Clack Clak Clag and #@!##@&#@ CLACK .. engine just STOP in the middle on the freeway I try to turn it on again and response with a louder noise I check the gauges and indicates " check gauges " TOO LATE.... My engine seized / broke / totally out of service. My investigation on this is ... FORD knew about this ... I think the problem start on the OIL PUMP and the Oil Screen maybe oil screen is to small because is not to much pressure to the engine. ( I believe on this particular engines 2004/2005/2006 ) That is why you can hear a filter noise when need more oil to be totally fill. Cause to my engine problem was the oil pump. NOW !!!! I heard a lots a comments from this particular engines " Oil Pump cause all this mess ...

Message to FORD : If you engineers do the right thing " OR " long time ago they should be recall and FIX Now what is next ...fix it ... Is going to cost a lot of money for me .... FORD need to help customers with particular problem " THE CLICK, CLICK and CLACK problem...

engine stalling and dying at inopportune times

This engine is a new crated 5.4L Triton engine. At around 50K miles the original stock engine started stalling with no way to control the steering when said truck stalled. At the suggestion of an online mechanic for another person with the same issue, I reflashed the EPROM chip at a dealership. Never had another issue with this truck again until the engine failed around 103K miles due to design flaws. Now I've put approximately 47K miles (or less) on the new engine and guess what? Stalling again!!!!! Ford knew about this malfunctioning engine and its related malfunctioning control modules as of 2005.

"This Class of Vehicles suffered from defects in design and/or manufacture, which has led to the following performance and safety issues: acceleration hesitation, loss of revolutions per minute (“RPM”), stalling, loss of power (including loss of power at high rates of speed), sudden and intermittent deceleration and other similar and potentially life-threatening malfunctions (hereinafter referred to as “Engine Problems”).

The Engine Problems are the result of defects in the following vehicle systems and components: the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), the Transmission Control Module (TCM), the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) and/or the Throttle Body Assembly."

I will NEVER EVER buy another Ford product again. My elderly parents each have a Explorer and a Expedition. When the time comes to inherit said vehicles, I will sell both and never buy another Ford again AND I'll never look back. FORD absolutely KNEW about these catastrophic issues but chose not to inform their dealerships or owners of these issues which can and possibly will get people KILLED.
