The contact owns a 2001 Ford F-150. The contact inadvertently tried to open the door to the rear driver side of the vehicle, but the door would not open. The contact stated that this was a recurring failure. The dealer diagnosed that the door upper locking system need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Updated 10/31/2017
: the contact stated he is concerned about the design of the vehicle. The vehicle has four doors but only two door handles. The back doors cannot be opened without opening the front doors. If the vehicle was involved in a crash and the driver and/or front passenger were immobilized, the occupants in the back seat would not be able to exit the vehicle. Updated 3/9/2006 -
The bottom of the doors was rusted. Consumer contacted the dealer, and manufacturer. However, did nothing to assist the consumer. Consumer was told if the door got a hole in it then they will do something.
Consumer noticed that all four doors rusted. Dealer was very cooperative. Manufacturer's representative indicated that it was consumer's problem, not Ford company's responsibility.
2001 F-150 harley edition super crew - "chromed" interior door handle on driver side came up at the seam, and cut a chunk of my pinky finger off. It was sharp as an exacto razor blade.

Outside driver's door has stress cracks located nearest to window door frame. Also, stress cracks have been there as long as 1 year. Consumer has notified manufacturer.
Consumer's husband was washing vehicle. Driver's side and passenger's side doors have raw material underneath the bottom of the doors. Her husband was cut by the raw material coming from the door. Also, bed liner doesn't fit. There are holes and spaces on the top of the liner, and a whole in the middle of the liner. If hauling anything inside of the liner it would run underneath the bed. Consumer took vehicle to the dealership. Mechanic installed a black jelly underneath the doors.
