The contact owns a 2000 Ford F-150. The contact's vehicle caught fire without warning. It was parked near the house and it almost caught fire as well. The fire originated in the engine due to the vehicle speed control. There were no injuries. A fire report was available. The entire vehicle was burned very badly. The failure mileage was 200,000.
On Thursday July 31, 2008. I got off from work and I saw my truck 200 F-150 on fire, and I read in the internet that it happen because it has a problem with one off the switch. So I call Ford and they haven done anything.. and I don't know what to do because I lost my truck.
07/07/2008 @ 12:58 my Ford F-150 caught on fire. Truck is a total loss. Also damage to cars parked nearby. Also had personal property loss of things inside truck. About 1 1/2 wk before fire I received a recall letter from Ford explaining the recall. The letter did not seem that urgent, but I figured I would have time to get to the dealer in a week or so. Letter stated that this was my second notice and was dated 03/2008. It was the only letter I received from Ford Motor Co.
My truck was parked in front of my house when it burst into flames. I called 911, the fire department was sent out and they put out the fire. The truck is burned beyond recognition.

Within 20 minutes, the flames were 15 feet high, causing damage to the home and landscaping. A police report was filed. He called Ford and was notified of a recall that did not include his VIN, although the contact feels that it should be included. The recall number was unknown. A police report is available. After the fire occurred a relative stated that she received recall notice (05V017000) for the cruise control. The manufacturer offered the contact no assistance. The dealer has stated that the parts were unavailable. As of March 17, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The contact felt that wait time for the part is excessive. Me and my family was at the store, I went in to get what we needed, and my family was in the truck. The truck was turned off, then my wife saw smoke coming from under the hood, she got out to get me while my son got my daughter out safely, within seconds the truck was in flames. A complete loss. My truck was a Ford F150 2000 model. I did receive a recall notice on the truck on Saturday the day before the fire.

Truck was parked for 3 days without moving and started fire. Destroyed the engine compartment and front half of the truck before fire was extinguished. Fire department investigation concluded that the fire was due to a recall on Ford involving and related to the cruise control switch.

He also noticed flames coming from the engine compartment. The dealer inspected and repaired the vehicle, but did not state the cause of the failure. Purchased a 2000 Ford F150 pickup truck about 3 months ago, and on August 12,2007 approx. 10 :00 P.M. my husband and I were alerted by our 8 year old son that he smelled smoke and something burning. My husband checked the upstairs rooms w/ no signs so went downstairs and opened the door to the garage and saw the truck engine on fire! he yelled for us to get out because the truck was on fire so I grabbed my 9 month old and by the time we all got out, the garage doors already burned off! our house was completely destroyed...we lost everything.

She was informed that there was a recall on the vehicle for the vehicle speed control. The mechanic stated that the repair could not be performed without the recall notice. The police and fire department arrived and a fire report was filed. The contact endured property damage due to the heat from the fire. The engine size was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 70,000.
I bought a 2000 Ford F150 sat at noon parked it 1:15 sun 3:00 am it was burned to the ground fire chief said cruise circuit likely, Ford refuses to do anything, car lot refuses to do anything, other car damaged I am out $4000.
